We’re seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to support and maintain our SQL Server database environments, ensuring high performance, availability, and security across both production and lower environments. This role will perform database maintenance, manage refreshes and restores, and support on-call operations for critical systems.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, eager to learn, and capable of growing into broader responsibilities. You’ll work closely with our development and infrastructure teams, supporting core processes that keep our data operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and configure SQL Server databases across production and non-production environments.
  • Monitor performance, availability, and security of all database systems.
  • Perform database maintenance, backups, restores, and scheduled environment refreshes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to performance, blocking, or failed jobs.
  • Participate in on-call rotation via PagerDuty to respond to system alerts and incidents.
  • Support nightly backup operations, investigating and rerunning failed processes when needed.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth data operations across environments.
  • Assist in database deployments, release management, and production changes.
  • Contribute to process improvement and optimization of database administration practices.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server database administration, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of AWS (RDS, Postgres, DynamoDB, or similar cloud database platforms).
  • Experience with database monitoring tools such as IDERA or Redgate.
  • Solid understanding of backup, restore, and recovery models.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in an on-call rotation and manage critical production incidents.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to AWS-based database environments and migration processes.
  • Familiarity with scripting for database automation.
  • Understanding of ETL workflows or data integration concepts.

Standard working hours are 8am-5pm Central Time, unless otherwise stated in the Job Description. 

 

 

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $100,000-$110,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.  If you are hired at bswift, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package!
