At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

As our Ads business continues to experience unprecedented growth, we are building a team to provide frictionless access to the metrics that drive our strategy and success.

The Ads Core Metrics and Tooling team is an analytics and product engineering team dedicated to building products that make ad metrics as accessible as possible. Our North Star is to enable frictionless access to ad metrics, allowing anyone in the Ads organization to find, trust, and use governed metrics without waiting on another team. Our work is critical to unlocking self-serve analytics and shifting the organization from hindsight to foresight. As our team is set to double in size, we are looking for a curious and collaborative engineer to grow with us and help shape our future. We are seeking a highly empathetic and curious self-starter who is eager to deliver and develop their skills in front-end engineering, data visualization, and product development.

As a Data Visualization Engineer, you will be a key contributor to our product suite, partnering with senior engineers and product managers to build exceptional data experiences. This is a role for someone eager to learn, collaborate, and make an impact on a rapidly growing business.

What You Will Do:

  • Partner and Build. You will collaborate closely with our senior engineers, data scientists, and product managers to build and iterate on our core products.

  • Create Intuitive Data Experiences. You will take on the challenge of transforming complex, messy data into engaging and informative visualizations that clearly explain key business trends to stakeholders and executives.

  • Grow Your Engineering Craft. You will contribute to our front-end codebase and, with guidance from senior team members, help improve our engineering velocity by adopting best practices in testing, linting, and component design.

  • Learn the Business. You will support the team by addressing ad hoc business-critical questions, providing a valuable opportunity to learn about the Ads business and establish yourself as a trusted partner to our stakeholders.

  • Explore and Innovate. You will have the opportunity to explore new technologies and share your opinions on how we can leverage emerging trends, such as Generative AI, to enhance our products and workflows.

What You Bring:

  • Deep Curiosity and High Agency. You are eager to constantly learn across the stack and about the business problems we solve. You are a self-starter, capable of self-direction when given context, and are motivated to build great data products that impact business decisions.

  • Foundational Data Experience Design. You have a passion for making complex data easy to understand. You understand the core principles of data visualization, including the effective use of charts, color, and information hierarchy. You can apply these skills to create prototypes and iterate with users rapidly. Knowledgeable about trade-offs between different chart types and able to make good decisions on how to represent various types of data best.

  • Front-End Skills. You are passionate about building beautiful web apps that focus on data explanation and exploration. You have experience with Node.js and front-end JavaScript (TypeScript encouraged). You have experience working with a component framework, such as React or Vue.js. D3 or other visualization experience preferred.

  • A Collaborative Spirit. You thrive in a team environment, enjoy partnering closely with other engineers and cross-functional team members, and are open to giving and receiving feedback to achieve shared success.

  • Data-centric. You’re familiar with working with data teams who craft metrics and know how to query data using skills like SQL or GraphQL. Basic statistical knowledge and intuition is preferred.

  • A Product Thinker. You are interested in the entire product lifecycle and are keen to learn how to build excellent products. You can participate in product development discussions and help turn user feedback into new features.

  • Interest in Generative AI is a plus. You have some experience with, or an intense curiosity about, building with Gen AI tooling and can contribute ideas on how to integrate these capabilities into our products.

  • Experience with Ads is a plus. Familiarity with key advertising metrics (e.g., impressions, fill rate, reach, frequency) and an understanding of how advertising impacts business objectives and results.
