We’re Changing the Rentals Industry

We’re a profitable, growth-stage company building industry-leading martech and data products for the rentals industry. While originally known for building and operating one of the U.S.’s largest rental marketplaces - Rentable, our focus has shifted to our category-leading AI and data SaaS products with triple-digit growth rates.

We’re a fully remote team of 100+ spread across the U.S. from coast to coast. We operate on a strict no a**holes policy and are proud to have built a community of highly performing people that take our work seriously, but not ourselves.

While we’ve raised $30MM+ to date from some of the world’s best investors, we’re profitable with a strong balance sheet and an indefinite runway. We pride ourselves on achieving rapid growth without having to incinerate capital.

If you like the idea of joining an industry-changing company made up of people who genuinely like each other, Rentable could be a great fit for you.

The Role

We are seeking a Data Scientist to bridge the worlds of real estate acquisitions and data science. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in multifamily commercial real estate, including building pro formas, analyzing deals, and leveraging market intelligence from sources such as CoStar, Yardi Matrix, and RealPage Market Analytics. The successful candidate will apply those skills to build innovative data-driven products for investors.

As part of the ApartmentIQ Explore Pro team, you will work closely with leadership, product, and engineering to design and deliver new features that make multifamily investment insights more actionable. This is an opportunity to help shape how institutional investors access and evaluate multifamily market data while building the next generation of investment tools.

Responsibilities

  • Research and experiment with multifamily datasets to identify opportunities for new product features and insights.
  • Partner with product managers and engineers to define requirements and design data-driven capabilities for ApartmentIQ Invest Pro.
  • Translate acquisitions workflows into scalable tools and features for institutional investors.
  • Apply large language models (LLMs) and other AI techniques to accelerate research, automate workflows, and unlock new insights from structured and unstructured market data.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on multifamily acquisitions, ensuring the product reflects real-world investor needs.
  • Create clear documentation, dashboards, and analyses to communicate findings and product opportunities.
  • Stay current on multifamily industry trends, data sources, AI/ML advances, and investment methodologies.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in multifamily commercial real estate, with a strong background in underwriting, deal analysis, and pro forma modeling.
  • Proven experience using key market data sources such as CoStar, Yardi Matrix, or RealPage Market Analytics.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience applying large language models (LLMs) or AI/ML techniques to accelerate research, automate analysis, or extract insights from data.
  • Familiarity with modern data science practices, including model building, experimentation, and validation.
  • Experience collaborating across teams (investment, product, engineering, data science).
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate investor workflows into product features.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex data insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable in a fast-paced, product-building environment.

Bonus Skills

  • Proficiency in Python, R, or similar.

Why Rentable:

  • 100% remote workplace
  • Competitive Compensation
  • Flexible Vacation Policy
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 100% paid Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and Life Insurance Program
  • 401k Program
  • No A**hole policy
