The Data Platform Lead is responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing robust data platforms that support the organization's strategic initiatives. This role will oversee the development and management of the data platform, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and secure, while also fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Platform Architecture: Design and implement a scalable, high-performance data platform that can handle large volumes of data and support various data analytics use cases, including data products and a data marketplace.
- Data Quality and Governance: Establish and maintain data quality standards and governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance, while also promoting data reusability and sharing.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of data platform engineers, providing guidance and support in their professional development, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Technology Evaluation: Research and evaluate new data technologies and tools to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation, including those related to data products and marketplaces.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with business stakeholders, data scientists, and other team members to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs, while also promoting the development of data products and services.
- Data Products and Marketplace: Drive the development and management of data products and services, ensuring they meet the needs of internal and external customers. Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify potential data product opportunities and develop go-to-market strategies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in data platform tools and technologies, including:
- Data warehousing and data lake solutions: Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics
- ETL/ELT tools: Informatica, Talend, Apache Airflow
- Data modeling and database design: SQL, NoSQL
- Cloud computing platforms: AWS, GCP, Azure
- Programming languages: Python, SQL, Scala (for Databricks and Spark)
- Data processing frameworks: Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop
- Leadership and Management: Experience leading and managing teams of data platform engineers, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and solve complex data platform challenges, especially those related to data products and marketplaces.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels and promote the value of data products and services.
- Business Acumen: Understanding of business processes and how data can drive value, with a focus on data monetization and product development.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex data platform projects, including planning, execution, and delivery, especially those related to data products and marketplaces.
Must-Have: Over 15 years of experience in data platform architecture, design, and implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-native data platforms and technologies.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Experience with data science and machine learning tools and techniques.
- Experience with data product development and management.
- Experience with data marketplaces or data exchanges.
