Who You Are


In this role, you will lead and manage the end-to-end data migration process for Ontic’s clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of various data types, data manipulation techniques, field mapping, SQL formats, and best practices for executing successful data migrations in a SaaS software environment. You will work cross-functionally with clients, implementation teams, and technical teams to ensure smooth and accurate transitions of data, minimizing disruptions and ensuring data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage data migration projects: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of data migration activities, ensuring timelines are met and resources are efficiently allocated
  • Data mapping and transformation: Ensure accurate field mapping and data transformation between legacy systems and Ontic, aligning with business rules and client needs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with internal teams such as engineering, implementation, and client success to develop migration strategies
  • Data quality assurance: Establish data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity throughout the migration lifecycle
  • SQL and scripting: Use SQL and other tools for data manipulation, querying, and scripting to ensure smooth transitions between systems
  • Process improvement: Continuously refine data migration processes, methodologies, and best practices to improve efficiency and reduce risk
  • Client communication and support: As needed, act as the point of contact and escalation for clients during the migration process, providing status updates, addressing concerns, and managing expectations
  • Team leadership: Coach team members of data migration specialists, providing mentorship, and guidance of data migration techniques

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience managing and leading data migration projects
  • 5+ years of experience in data migrations, data management, or related fields, preferably in a SaaS environment
  • Strong knowledge of various data types, structures, and formats (e.g., SQL, XML, CSV, JSON)
  • Experience with SQL for querying and manipulating data during migrations. Familiarity with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools. Experience with data mapping, field transformations, and integration between systems
  • Problem-solving mindset with strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Leadership experience with a proven ability to manage and mentor a team
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in the SaaS industry or with cloud-based platforms
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies
  • Experience with automation in data migration processes

This will be a part time position, taking about approximately 10-15 hours per week
