We are on an exciting journey to improve the quality and accessibility of our data to empower business users to make nimble meaningful business decisions utilizing data. To accomplish this, we are looking to hire an individual with deep commercial lending business process and operations knowledge. The ideal candidate will have significant business/operations knowledge on how deals are originated, booked, and serviced. This role is ideal for a seasoned commercial lending professional who has deep knowledge of loan origination, underwriting, servicing, and portfolio management—and who is motivated to improve the quality and usability of the data that supports those processes.
This is not a technical or analytics role. The selected candidate will act as a business subject matter expert, partnering with the front office and operations teams to improve the clarity, controls, and quality of our commercial lending data.
This role is expected to act as the team lead or manager for a team of 3 – 7 individuals. Please note this role can also be filled at the AVP or Analyst level for the right candidate, without team lead or manager expectations
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the business steward and point of accountability for critical data elements across the commercial lending domain (e.g., borrower, facility, collateral, pricing, covenants, exposure)
Define and maintain clear business definitions, usage rules, and ownership for commercial loan data
Ensure data reflects the true business intent and operating reality of commercial lending products and processes
Identify where process gaps, manual workarounds, or inconsistent practices lead to data quality issues
Partner with business and operations teams to improve upstream processes that produce loan data
Help prioritize and resolve data issues that impact reporting, client experience, risk management, or regulatory obligations
Translate business requirements and pain points into clear, actionable guidance for downstream consumers of loan data
Participate in data governance forums related to commercial lending
Support data quality monitoring, root‑cause analysis, and issue remediation efforts
Improve transparency and confidence in how commercial loan data is sourced, defined, and used across the organization
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in commercial lending, such as origination, underwriting, credit administration, loan operations, portfolio management, or commercial credit risk
Strong, hands‑on knowledge of the end‑to‑end commercial loan lifecycle and related processes
Ability to explain complex lending concepts clearly to both business and non‑business audiences
Strong collaboration, influence, and problem‑solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability
Preferred Skills
Exposure to data quality, process improvement, or control environments (formal or informal)
Comfort working across teams and driving change without direct authority
Curiosity and passion for improving how business data is created and used
Team lead or people management experience preferred
What this role is not
Not a data engineering, analytics, or technical role
No prior data experience or data background is required
No coding, modeling, or system development responsibilities
No requirement for formal data management experience
The typical base pay range for this role is between $137K - $156K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
