As a Data Governance Lead, you’ll ensure Motive has a robust framework for managing data quality, discovery, privacy, and compliance. You'll be a member of the central business intelligence (BI) team and you'll collaborate cross-functionally with BI, data platform, legal, security, and strategic analytics to develop the policies. You will be responsible for establishing and enforcing data governance policies, standards, and processes across the organization. You’ll architect permissions policies for BI tools and our Data Warehouse and work with engineering to execute them. You'll make sure data is discoverable and understandable, unlocking a broad range of analysts to move fast and drive business value with data. We’re looking for a leader who can define and implement data governance strategies, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and drive a culture of data integrity.
What You'll Do:- Define and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures for critical data assets.
- Establish and maintain policies and processes around data profiling and data quality.
- Collaborate with data owners to ensure data definitions, lineage, and classifications are accurately documented.
- Develop and deliver training programs to promote data governance best practices across the company.
- Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Facilitate data governance council meetings and drive decision-making on data-related issues.
- Build metrics and analysis around Motive’s data governance program and communicate results to leadership
- 7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
- Deep expertise in data governance frameworks, principles, and best practices.
- Strong understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience with data access, cataloging, data lineage, and metadata management tools.
- Experience designing and maintaining permissions architectures in data warehouse and business intelligence tools
- Experience using SQL and data analytics tools (Tableau, Jupyter or similar) to analyze data
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate complex data governance concepts into actionable strategies.
- Self-starter with the ability to self-project manage work.
Your compensation may be based on several factors, including education, work experience, and certifications. For certain roles, total compensation may include restricted stock units. The compensation range for this position will depend on where you reside. Motive uses three geographic zones to determine pay range. For this role, the compensation ranges are:
