The Role

Xylem is seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team. In this role, you will bring hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms—particularly Azure and Databricks—along with working knowledge of SAP data integration, to help advance our enterprise data capabilities.
 

As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain data integration pipelines that curate and transform Xylem data to enable data-driven decision-making and accelerate digital transformation. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to deliver certified data models, reports, and dashboards that support enterprise reporting and advanced analytics.

Core Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and integration.

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to architect cloud-based data solutions using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Azure SQL.

  • Integrate data from SAP ERP and other enterprise systems into modern cloud data platforms.

  • Use Databricks and Apache Spark to process and optimize large-scale data workflows.

  • Partner with business and analytics stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure data quality, reliability, and consistency.

  • Support the creation of certified datasets, data models, reports, and dashboards for analytics and machine learning use cases.

  • Apply data governance, security, and compliance best practices across data pipelines.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline, performance, and workflow issues.

  • Contribute to CI/CD processes for deploying and managing data workflows and infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • 3–5 years of experience in data engineering or a closely related role.

  • Hands-on experience with Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Databricks.

  • Strong SQL and Python skills for data engineering and pipeline development.

  • Experience working with Azure Data Lake or similar cloud-based distributed storage solutions.

  • Understanding of data modeling concepts, including star and snowflake schemas.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.

  • Basic working knowledge of Apache Spark.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience integrating data from SAP ERP systems.

  • Azure Data Engineering certification.

  • Exposure to analytics or machine learning data use cases.
