The Data Engineer plays a critical role in architecting, developing, and optimizing enterprise-grade 
data pipelines that power decision-making across GoHealth. Leveraging Snowflake and modern 
orchestration frameworks, this role ensures high-quality, scalable, and secure data delivery. The 
Data Engineer partners closely with data scientists, BI developers, and operational leaders to design 
forward-looking data solutions, integrate complex source systems, and drive reliability and trust 
across the organization.
 

Qualifications
Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field.

Work Experience Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering and Data Warehousing.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake or equivalent cloud data platforms.
     

Preferred Qualifications, Education, Licenses, Certifications, Experience, etc.:

  • Proficiency with advanced Snowflake features (SnowPipe, Streams, Tasks, and Security).
  • Hands-on experience with modern orchestration and transformation frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt).
  • Expertise in data modeling, integration design patterns, and database performance optimization.
  • Proficiency in Python or Java for automation, data transformations, and API integrations.
  • Familiarity with Azure and other cloud services.
  • Experience integrating data engineering workflows with visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep proficiency in SQL for building optimized, reusable, and cost-effective queries.
  • Ability to design, monitor, and maintain large-scale ETL pipelines and frameworks.
  • Experience with structured and semi-structured data (e.g., JSON, XML, Parquet).
  • Skilled with version control (Git) and CI/CD best practices for data engineering
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on scalability, governance, and data quality.
  • Ability to cope technical solutions independently, mentor junior team members, and communicate business value to stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of Snowflake pipelines, balancing scalability, governance, and performance.
  • Engineer and deliver reliable datasets that meet business requirements while ensuring compliance with governance and security standards.
  • Own complex data integrations across multiple systems, reconciling inconsistencies and ensuring enterprise alignment.
  • Drive performance tuning initiatives, proactively optimizing for cost efficiency and speed.
  • Design and implement monitoring, recovery, and alerting mechanisms for ETL workflows.
  • Investigate root causes of data issues, implement preventative measures, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Partner with BI, Operations, and Finance teams to translate business challenges into scalable technical solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging tools and practices, adopting innovations that align with organizational priorities.
  • Guide Associate Data Engineers through end-to-end evaluations of data tools and technologies, ensuring thorough analysis and alignment with project goals. 
  • Provide ongoing technical support to junior developers by addressing questions, troubleshooting issues, and sharing best practices to foster skill development and team efficiency

Physical Requirements

  • Office Environment: Primarily remote; standard office or home-office setting.
  • Travel: Minimal travel may be required (up to 10%).
  • Safety Equipment: Compliance with workplace safety and infection-prevention standards
