QED.ai (https://qed.ai) is a tech company focused on public health and food security in Sub-Saharan Africa. We build the digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence that empowers the intersection of aid and scientific inquiry, such as epidemiological surveillance and control of HIV, TB, and malaria. Our funding comes from philanthropic and governmental organizations such as the Global Fund, CDC, and the Gates Foundation.
We are looking for a data engineer to assist with both (a) the construction of medical data processing pipelines and (b) the analysis of national-scale healthcare data. Combine your reasoning skills with empathy for others to bring voice to the untold masses struggling to receive adequate health services across the Global South. Use numbers, technology, and visualizations to build data-driven stories that will change the world.
Basic RequirementsInterest in public health and using data to save human lives.
Strong logical reasoning and critical thinking skills, puzzle-solving skills, and attention to detail.
Experience with computer programming.
Fluency working with Excel spreadsheets / Google sheets, and analyzing numbers.
Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in clear and correct English and French.
Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute.
Enthusiasm for information technology.
An eye for clarity in the visual presentation of data.
Full-time employment availability of at least 40 hours per week.
Expressiveness, emotional intelligence, and team-oriented attitude.

Domain expertise, experience, or energetic interest in medicine and human health.
Experience working with databases and writing SQL queries.
Some experience with basic statistics, or monitoring and evaluation.
