Data Architect

At BuildOps, we’re building the foundation for how data flows, scales, and empowers every decision we make. We're looking for a hands-on Data Architect to lead the evolution of our data platform and data tooling architecture. You’ll help us unlock insights, accelerate development, and build world-class infrastructure to support everything from customer onboarding to product intelligence.

This isn’t a “keep the lights on” kind of role. You’ll own the next generation architecture and strategy across our stack — including AWS, Snowflake, DBT, Airbyte, and more — while collaborating closely with product, engineering, and operations to ensure our data is clean, scalable, and always driving value.

• Own the end-to-end architecture of our data platform across Snowflake, DBT, Airbyte, and AWS
• Design and evolve our data onboarding tools and integrations (Flatfile, GraphQL and REST APIs) to ensure seamless, high-quality data ingestion
• Architect internal application data models that are performant, scalable, and easy to work with
• Build systems to support test data generation, cloning, and mocking for demos and QA environments
• Partner with engineering and product teams to embed data thinking across our entire product lifecycle
• Ensure best practices for data governance, privacy, and access across environments
• Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to tools, pipelines, and infrastructure
  

• 5+ years of experience leading and implementing data architecture and strategy at a high growth SaaS business
• 10+ years of experience in hands-on data architecture, engineering, or platform roles
• Deep expertise in cloud data platforms (especially Snowflake), data modeling, and ELT tools like DBT
• Architected and developed scalable systems with hands-on expertise in GraphQL, Python, Node.js, MySQL, and AWS, bridging high-level design with practical implementation.
• Hands-on experience with modern data ingestion tooling (e.g., Airbyte, Flatfile)
• Background in building internal platforms and developer productivity tools through data
• Strong understanding of software engineering workflows, including version control, CI/CD, and testing
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• A passion for building clean, reliable systems — and a healthy skepticism for complexity
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule - Monday/Friday WFH, Tuesday - Thursday, in office
