This internship will be based in Charlotte, NC.

Reporting

This intern will report to the Customer Experience Manager.

Internship Overview

Palmetto is seeking a motivated, analytical, and curious student to join the Customer Experience team for a summer internship. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience analyzing customer and operational data to identify trends, uncover opportunities, and recommend improvements that enhance the overall customer experience.

The intern will partner closely with Customer Experience and Operations leaders to evaluate key metrics such as CSAT, call volume, contact drivers, and operational performance. This role will provide meaningful exposure to business operations, data-driven decision making, and process improvement in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

This internship is structured to provide practical development while delivering measurable business value through actionable insights and recommendations.

Core Responsibilities

The intern will support the Customer Experience team through project-based work and ongoing initiatives. Responsibilities may include:

  • Analyzing CSAT data to identify trends, root causes of customer dissatisfaction, and improvement opportunities
  • Reviewing customer contact drivers to understand why customers are reaching out and identifying ways to reduce unnecessary contact volume
  • Evaluating call volume trends and seasonal patterns to support forecasting and operational planning
  • Identifying repeat contact trends and opportunities to improve first contact resolution
  • Analyzing customer journey stages to determine when customers most frequently contact support
  • Identifying operational bottlenecks or delays across project milestones
  • Recommending training opportunities based on customer feedback and interaction trends
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams to understand operational processes and improvement opportunities
  • Creating dashboards, summaries, and presentations to share findings with leadership
  • Completing a defined project with clear deliverables and recommendations by the end of the internship

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Pursuing a degree in Business, Data Analytics, Operations, Customer Experience, Statistics, Economics, or related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with data in Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Interest in customer experience, operations, or business analytics
  • Prior internship, coursework, or project experience in analytics or operations is a plus
  • Interest in renewable energy, climate tech, or mission-driven organizations preferred
