Job Summary

The Credit Products Specialist II – Specialized plays a key role in structuring and underwriting complex commercial credit transactions while managing an assigned loan portfolio within a specialized vertical or region. This position is responsible for independently analyzing credit risk, negotiating loan terms, and providing strategic recommendations to relationship and credit teams. By proactively monitoring portfolio performance and identifying emerging risks, this role ensures sound credit decisions and long-term client success. The position also supports the professional development of junior team members by sharing expertise and best practices.
This role will be supporting the Power & Renewable team within the bank’s specialized vertical, focused on Project Finance transactions across the renewable energy, power and infrastructure sectors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Credit Structuring & Underwriting: Lead underwriting efforts for complex loan requests, assessing creditworthiness and recommending risk-mitigating structures within the Power and Renewable Team.

  • Perform due diligence on new project finance and power transactions, including review of market studies, engineering reports, financials models, project contracts and legal analysis.

  • Evaluate requests for sale leaseback and tax equity structures in addition to loan structures

  • Support loan closing and funding, liaising with internal and external parties.

  • Portfolio & Risk Management: Continuously monitor assigned portfolio to proactively identify credit risks, trends, and financial performance concerns.

  • Evaluate impact of amendments, waivers and consents on Project Finance transactions and manage the approval process.

  • Maintain borrower monthly/quarterly/ annual reporting requirements.

  • Work with Team Lead to develop processes and guidelines for continuous monitoring of projects in the portfolio to track asset types, developers, technology and geography.

  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with sales in negotiations and client discussions, ensuring alignment between client needs and risk appetite.

  • Credit Agreement Review: Collaborate with legal teams to review and negotiate credit agreements, ensuring compliance with bank policies and risk management frameworks.

  • Mentorship & Training: Provide guidance to junior credit professionals, enhancing team capabilities and fostering a strong credit culture. Identifies and raises to leadership improvement areas in credit processes and procedures.

  • Uses independent judgement and discretion to make decisions regarding assigned portfolio.

  • Analyzes and resolves problems pertaining to the assigned portfolio.

ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.

  • Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings.  Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

  • Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent)  Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field or 10+ years of equivalent experience.

  • Minimum experience required: 7+ Years in commercial/corporate credit analysis, underwriting, or portfolio management.

  • At least 3 years of transactional Project Finance experience

  • Experience in utility-scale and distributed generation assets within the solar and storage sector is an asset, as well as tax equity experience.

  • Financial modeling expertise in Project Finance and tax equity

  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to collaborate with clients.

  • Experience structuring complex loan transactions.

  • Ability to analyze macroeconomic trends and their impact on credit risk.

Job Competencies:

  • Advanced Financial & Credit Analysis: Strong command of financial modeling, industry-specific credit risks, and structuring commercial credit transactions.

  • Risk Assessment & Decision-Making: Ability to proactively identify potential credit risks and recommend risk mitigation strategies.

  • Negotiation Skills: Works with RMs and clients to structure loan terms that align with both client needs and risk parameters.

  • Process & Portfolio Management: Manages complex portfolios, ensuring proactive monitoring and adherence to credit policies.

  • Stakeholder Influence: Builds strong relationships with internal and external partners, effectively communicating credit decisions.

  • Project Management: Ability to drive loan structuring and closing processes with minimal oversight.

  • Legal & Compliance Understanding: Familiarity with credit agreements, loan documentation, and regulatory requirements.

  • Technology & Data Utilization: Proficiency in financial analysis tools, CRM systems, and underwriting software.

  • Physical demands (ADA): No unusual physical exertion is involved.
