Job Description:

At Regions, the Credit Products Leveraged Finance Associate supports Leveraged Finance Credit Products Manager(s) in identifying and mitigating risks in existing and proposed credit products. As a member of the First Line of Defense, the individual will analyze new commercial credit opportunities, underwrite new or renewed credit exposure and manage a portfolio of loans and other credit relationships in conjunction with a Credit Products Manager.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepares credit approval packages on new and renewed credit products including determination of the appropriate risk rating as well as risk factors that could change the risk rating, analysis of financial performance, performance vs. projections, covenant compliance, relationship profitability (RAROC), and any other significant risk drivers

  • Analyzes guarantors as needed to support credit underwriting

  • Assists the Credit Products Manager with review of loan documents pre-closing

  • Reviews closing due diligence in collaboration with and oversight by Credit Products Manager

  • Maintains credit files including post- closing items (actively manages financial reporting requirements, covenant requirements, past dues and documentation exceptions and ensures credit files are complete with all up to date information)

  • Implements and maintains ticklers

  • Monitors and services portfolio in conjunction with Shared Services support

  • Validates the appropriate risk rating for a company and proactively identifies risk rating changes

  • Identifies opportunities for exposure reduction or new opportunities within assigned portfolio

  • Develops a strong working knowledge of and insures compliance with internal bank commercial loan policy, credit risk management policy, and external regulatory requirements documents any exceptions to policy and provides related rationale/mitigants

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

This position is incentive eligible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • Two (2) years of underwriting experience or financial services analysis and accounting experience

  • Ability to competently complete credit packages and credit services agreements with management oversight

Required Certifications/Licensures 

  • Completion of a major corporate credit training program (or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance experience)

This position may be filled at a higher level depending on the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.

At Regions, the Commercial Leveraged Credit Products Associate partners with CLCP Senior Portfolio Managers (“Product Specialists”) to lead the underwriting, structuring, execution, and portfolio management of leveraged transactions. The Associate plays a key role on deal teams evaluating acquisition financings, strategic refinancings, and other complex credit opportunities.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Specialists to lead credit screening, underwriting, structuring, negotiation, closing, and documentation of leveraged transactions
  • Take primary responsibility for building and maintaining complex financial models for both sponsor-backed and corporate clients
  • Conduct in-depth due diligence and drive credit analysis to assess risk, structure, and pricing
  • Serve as a key point of contact with coverage teams, credit risk, legal, and other stakeholders throughout the deal lifecycle
  • Support portfolio management efforts post-close, including monitoring performance, covenant compliance, and risk trends
  • Ensure consistent application of underwriting standards, due diligence practices, and documentation review
  • Lead review of loan documentation and closing diligence in coordination with legal counsel and internal partners
  • Maintain and apply market knowledge of leveraged finance trends, including pricing, structural features, and capital solutions
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Analysts on deal execution and credit analysis

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.

$95,681.36 USD

Median:

$116,308.50 USD

Incentive Pay Plans:

This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary incentive plan. Employees have the potential to receive a discretionary award based on performance against defined metrics and goals.
