The BOLDSCIENCE Creative Director serves as one of the lead conductors of concept development in partnership with Client Services and Scientific. They will recommend and create compelling campaigns, experiences, and brand strategies that meet our clients’ objectives and BOLD’s company mission. The Creative Director is responsible for leading creative concepts and execution on assigned new business pitches, RFP responses, capability presentations, and for leading large-scale high-stakes creative projects and campaigns. The Creative Director will lead by example, providing both strategic and hands-on support to ensure outstanding creative quality and collaboration across a distributed team. We’re seeking someone who is equally comfortable guiding big-picture direction as well as directly supporting in the daily work.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Providing an insightful and imaginative vision for the execution or art direction of projects including but not limited to client campaigns, omnichannel marketing and brand strategy initiatives, drug launch meetings and campaigns, campaign videos, animations, drug/disease education-based websites, scientific congress booth interactives and deliverables, brand and demand generation campaigns, in-person and digital events, print and digital advertising, social media, campaign assets, corporate videos, patient videos and 3D MOA/MOD videos
  • Drive the integration and application of AI-enabled creative technologies and platforms (e.g., generative AI for design, video, or copy; AI-enhanced asset management; multimodal content generation; workflow automation) to accelerate ideation, content creation, personalization, and production workflows, staying informed of weekly developments in the AI space to ensure the agency remains a leader in digital innovation.
  • Demonstrate fluency and provide upskilling opportunities for the creative team on relevant AI tools and best practices, particularly those appropriate for regulated healthcare environments
  • Partner closely with Client Services and Scientific teams to translate complex client briefs into actionable, visually compelling creative concepts and campaigns, leveraging both strategic insight and medical/scientific accuracy
  • Contribute hands-on design and execution of high-stakes creative projects
  • Co-lead brainstorming and concept development sessions, facilitating cross-functional ideation
  • Champion the agency’s reputation for creative excellence by delivering high-impact, evidence-based creative, and measurable outcomes that distinguish BOLDSCIENCE in the market
  • Deliver creative and brand strategies for concepts and campaigns, ensuring all outputs meet business objectives, brand standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations across therapeutic areas and communications channels
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends and developments in medical communications, healthcare marketing, digital and AI technologies, and evolving compliance standards, translating these insights into actionable creative strategy and business growth opportunities
  • Promote ethical, responsible, and transparent use of AI and automated creative technologies and actively participate in agency-wide training tied to AI adoption
  • Generate, curate, and pitch new and innovative creative strategies and ideas that harness new digital formats, platforms, and AI-enabled capabilities
  • Hands-on design work and execution for high-impact design and creative projects
  • Continuously refine and enhance the creative process and workflow, integrating new technologies and ways of working
  • Build and nurture relationships with internal and external teams and helping to reinforce our global and collaborative approach to working
  • Ensure the highest standards of creative direction, innovation, quality control, and compliance in all deliverables, including oversight and mentorship for creative teams
  • Other duties as assigned in a fast-paced, evolving agency environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (design, fine arts, marketing, communications, or related); advanced degree or ongoing professional development in digital or AI creative leadership a plus
  • 15+ years in design and creative direction, with a robust track record leading global healthcare or pharmaceutical brands
  • Demonstrated fluency in utilizing AI/ML-driven creative tools (e.g., generative AI for design, image/video generation, AI-assisted asset management, automation platforms)
  • Expert in design and presentation software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, PowerPoint, web design), and AI-enabled creative tools
  • 10-15 years managing, mentoring, and inspiring diverse, high-performing creative teams
  • Hands-on expertise and willingness to roll-up your sleeves to develop creative solutions and campaigns across platforms including advertising, videos, websites, brand/corporate ID, interactive, presentations, and events
  • Strategic and conceptual problem-solver, thinker, tinkerer
  • Experience launching new brands and creating brand identities
  • Portfolio showcasing stand-out design-skills and experience in healthcare &/or pharma
  • Ability to operate and thrive in a fast-paced and iterative environment
  • Proven track-record at collaborating with cross-functional global teams with an ability to synthesize multiple disciplines and viewpoints to deliver client-centric solutions in complex, matrixed organization
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, and presentation skills, including experience selling your creative vision and ideas to C-level clients and cross-disciplinary stakeholders
  • Demonstrates financial accountability by determining proper budgets and timelines
  • Strong relationship builder and collaborator with a willingness to check ego at the door - open to feedback and new perspectives
