Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. The Role
As Creative Director, Interactive Experiences at Square, you'll partner with product, strategy, design, and engineering teams to shape and drive the creative vision for our website, squareup.com . Reporting to the head of Creative for Web, you'll collaborate with a team of designers to craft compelling interactive experiences that reflect Square's commitment to excellence in design and user experience. Your creative direction will help define how millions of sellers engage with Square's products and services - from inspiration to purchase.
You Will

  • Define and execute the creative vision for Square's web presence, ensuring a cohesive digital experience across all touchpoints
  • Collaborate with the web design team to produce great creative and develop a healthy, supportive culture
  • Foster design excellence through creative reviews and quality standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment throughout the design process.
  • Contribute to the evolution of squareup.com 's design system, ensuring the designs you create scale effectively
  • Champion user-centered design principles and data-driven decision making
  • Present creative work to senior stakeholders and advocate for design-driven solutions
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure our digital presence resonates across markets and cultures


You Have

  • 12+ years of design experience in a creative-focused digital agency or in-house web product team.
  • A compelling portfolio showcasing web and interactive design work
  • Excellent Typographic and Art Direction sensibilities
  • Experience leading large-scale website redesigns for major brands or tech companies
  • Strong expertise in interactive design tools (Figma, Framer, etc...) and understanding of front-end technologies
  • Experience working with Figma-based design systems
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to articulate design decisions
  • Track record of successful collaboration with product, strategy, and engineering teams
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Design, Product, Visual Communications, or related field

The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
