TDOE is seeking one (1) independent contractor to support several high-impact projects that advance the statewide implementation of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) and supplemental materials that align with revised science standards. This contractor will lead the development of a cohesive, state-approved design framework for the initial release of K–2 supplemental science units, ensuring materials are visually engaging, user-friendly, and optimized for district, educator, and student use. 

The contractor will apply this design framework to existing Tennessee-adapted units and collaborate on the preparation of nine additional units for a later release. All materials will be refined to reflect TDOE’s vision for rigorous, inquiry-driven instruction. In addition, the contractor will provide ongoing support in accessibility compliance and graphic design across a range of related Academics projects, ensuring all deliverables meet state and federal accessibility standards and align with TDOE branding expectations. 

This role is critical to sustaining the large-scale development of high-quality, accessible, and district-ready instructional content. The contractor will help ensure coherence across materials, timely completion of deliverables, and effective implementation aligned to the statewide work plan under coordination of the division's leadership and project owners. 

 

Competencies/Skills Required:

Advanced Use & Knowledge of Microsoft Suite: Powerpoint, Word, and Excel 

Advance Use & Knowledge of Adobe Pro 

Background or experience in branding/digital marketing/graphic design 

Knowledge of InDesign and Canva  

Awareness of State and Federal ADA Compliance Regulations and ability to adhere to those requirements within TDOE developed documents and resources assigned to the scope of this project. 

Adherence to TDOE guidance on style and branding requirements 

Background in Science content for K-12 material desirable
