Job Summary:

The Cost Analyst role is a vital member of the finance team, contributing to the accurate and timely financial reporting of our organization. Your duties will include preparing financial statements, conducting monthly and annual account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). You will also be involved in budgeting processes, financial forecasting, and providing tax support. Your analytical skills will be essential in identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions. This role requires a detail oriented individual with strong problem solving abilities and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity.

This is a hybrid role based in Charlotte, NC. This person is expected to be onsite at least 3x per week.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting
• Prepare and analyze financial statements
• Monitor and reconcile accounts
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting
Bookkeeping
• Record and maintain financial transactions
• Manage accounts payable and receivable
• Reconcile bank statements
• Assist with payroll processing
Auditing
• Conduct internal audits on accounting
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations
• Identify and report any discrepancies or errors
Financial Analysis
• Analyze financial data and provide insights
• Prepare financial reports and presentations as required
• Assist with financial planning and decision making
Client Management
• Communicate with clients to gather financial information
• Provide financial advice and guidance
• Build and maintain client relationships
Software Management
• Utilize accounting software for financial recording and reporting
• Train and assist colleagues on software usage
• Stay updated on new software and technology developments
Team Collaboration
• Work with other departments to gather financial information
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve processes and procedures
• Participate in team meetings and discussions
Ad Hoc Projects
• Assist with special projects and initiatives as needed
• Conduct research and analysis for various business needs
• Identify and implement process improvements for increased efficiency.

Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field with at least 2 years experience or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.
• Proficiency in accounting software (like QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle), spreadsheet programs (such as Microsoft Excel), and a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• The ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide accurate financial reports.
• Strong understanding of accuracy of financial documents and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Clear and effective communication is essential for collaborating with team members and explaining financial information to non financial individuals.
• A strong sense of ethics and integrity, as accountants handle sensitive financial information.
• A commitment to ongoing learning and staying current with changes in tax laws, regulations, and financial reporting standards.

The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.  At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
