About the Opportunity:

The developer landscape is changing from 17 million technical developers to 3 billion people using Agents to build apps and sites. Netlify is positioned at the center of this shift, and we’re building a world-class finance function that not only meets compliance requirements but also fuels company-wide insights and efficiency.

Netlify’s Finance & Accounting team plays a pivotal role in enabling strategic decision-making and long-term growth. As stewards of financial integrity, the team ensures accurate reporting, scalable systems, and operational excellence.  The Controller role exists to support this transformation: leading key accounting processes, collaborating cross-functionally, and helping drive our path to audit readiness and financial maturity.

What You’ll Do:
  • Own and manage all compliance-related functions, including payroll, procurement, billing, collections, tax, treasury, and audit, ensuring rigorous adherence to evolving standards.
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams like Sales, Customer Success, Procurement, and RevOps to proactively support contract structure, billing, and revenue processes with clarity and accountability.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, including statutory filings, while building collaborative relationships with external auditors and internal teams across regions.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline finance workflows through tooling, lightweight internal app development, or AI-powered solutions, bringing a curious and systems-minded approach to how we scale
  • Drive scalable, inclusive process improvements across the order-to-cash and payables cycles, balancing structure with flexibility to meet the needs of a high-volume, product-led SaaS environment.
  • Leverage and adapt financial systems such as NetSuite, Orb, and Airbase, with openness to exploring new tools or building lightweight internal applications to reduce manual work and increase efficiency.
  • Maintain audit readiness and ongoing compliance with evolving US GAAP, tax, and jurisdictional standards, helping ensure financial integrity and operational clarity.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives, including tooling evaluations and deeper use of systems like Snowflake to support thoughtful, data-informed decision-making.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity and continuous learning, surfacing insights from customer and transactional data, identifying trends, and collaborating on solutions that help move the business forward.
  • Collaborate closely with the CFO and cross-functional teams to drive finance transformation, focusing on improving workflows, implementing systems, and advancing automation in an inclusive and scalable way.

What You'll Bring:

  • Meaningful accounting leadership experience, ideally blending public accounting and in-house operational roles at high-transaction, product-led SaaS companies
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, tax compliance, revenue recognition, and how to apply accounting principles across systems and processes
  • Hands-on exposure to financial systems like NetSuite, Orb, or Zuora, and confidence working with large datasets in tools like Excel or Snowflake
  • Proven ability to adapt in high-growth, evolving environments, bringing structure without overengineering and helping the business scale efficiently
  • Experience documenting accounting policies, maintaining internal controls, and contributing to audit readiness
  • Curiosity and systems thinking: interested in learning how tools, workflows, and even lightweight internal app-building can drive business impact
  • A collaborative and proactive working style, with a track record of partnering cross-functionally to support deal structure, billing, and revenue processes
  • A thoughtful approach to leadership and able to build and support inclusive, high-performing teams while operating independently when needed
  • We welcome candidates based in North America for this position

This Role is a Great Fit If:

  • You’re energized by building and refining, whether it’s improving workflows, evolving systems, or documenting processes that help others move faster
  • You enjoy applying your accounting expertise to new and nuanced challenges, especially in a product-led, high-volume environment
  • You’re excited by the potential of AI and internal app-building, and you see opportunities to experiment with automation or lightweight tools to reduce friction
  • You feel confident navigating ambiguity and are excited to help shape how things are done
  • You’re naturally curious and motivated to learn, especially when it comes to systems, tooling, and understanding how things connect across the business
  • You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy building relationships across teams like Sales, Customer Success, and RevOps
  • You’re drawn to roles where finance plays a strategic role, not just one that reports the numbers
  • You prefer working with a team that supports one another, shares wins, and believes in progress over perfection
