What is this role?
The Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for identifying, leading, and sustaining process improvement initiatives across operations. This role partners closely with frontline teams and leaders to eliminate waste, improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost, while helping build a strong culture of continuous improvement using Lean and structured problem-solving methodologies.
What does an average day look like?Driving Results: Leading Lean initiatives such as kaizen events, process mapping, and rapid improvement workshops to reduce waste and improve operational performance across manufacturing, warehousing, and support functions.
Taking Ownership: Developing and maintaining standard work, visual management tools, and 5S systems. Following up on implemented improvements to ensure gains are sustained and documented.
Making Decisions: Analyzing operational data (OEE, scrap, labor efficiency, cycle time, inventory accuracy, etc.) to identify improvement opportunities, establish baselines, and track measurable results.
Cultivating Relationships: Partnering cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Leadership to support daily operations, line changes, and new product launches.
Instilling Trust: Training and coaching team members on CI tools, supporting employee-led improvement ideas, and acting as a change agent to help teams adopt new processes and behaviors.
Customer Focus: Supporting root cause analysis for safety, quality, and delivery issues to ensure consistent, reliable outcomes for both internal and external customers.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- 2–5 years of experience in Continuous Improvement, Lean, or Operational Excellence
- Working knowledge of Lean tools (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, A3, Root Cause Analysis)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and facilitation skills
- Ability to work effectively with both hourly and salaried teams
- Manufacturing, fulfillment, or warehouse experience preferred
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) a plus
- Comfortable working hands-on in a fast-paced, plant or warehouse environment
