Job Description
The Director of Consultant Relations is part of an interdisciplinary marketing, sales, and client service team. This position is a key external-facing role responsible for deepening and expanding relationships with our network of benefits brokers, consultants, and third-party evaluators across the U.S. that lead prospective benefits administration searches. This role requires a strategic mindset, excellent relationship-building skills, the ability to understand general benefits administration industry and market dynamics, as well as manage complex stakeholder networks.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support new business growth through established, dominant search consultant firms by cultivating and maintaining trusted partnerships with top tier search consultants in the industry.
- Develop and maintain relationships with mid and lower tier firms to ensure bswift brand is top of mind when initiating a search for a new prospect.
- Continually assess new firm and consultant distribution opportunities
- Partner closely with bswift Executive Leadership and Client Services teams to bring meaningful business and mutual client updates to consultant community on a regular cadence.
- Lead consistent communication strategy and ongoing interaction with search consultants to ensure they are always aware of our strategy, vision and direction for bswift products and services.
- Coordinate and conduct regular business update meetings, respond to ad hoc consultant requests, and assist in go-to-market materials updates, CRM updates, and driving RFP process efficiency.
- Act as first point of contact in the RFP process; review RFPs for fit, answer questions, and kick off overall process
- Manage annual consultant database updates
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Sales, Product, Legal, Sales Operations, and Client Services) to ensure accurate and timely completion of requests.
- Participate in industry conferences and events to promote the firm, build relationships within target markets and the consultant community and remain current in profession and industry trends
- Monitor market shifts and provide feedback to Product, Sales and Marketing teams to ensure competitive positioning.
Qualifications:
The position requires outstanding relationship management, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills. The candidate must have a history of successfully developing relationships or expanding relationships with search consultants and/or brokers. In addition, the successful candidate must be knowledgeable of the healthcare benefits administration industry.
- 10+ years of experience in consultant relations, client service, or relationship management. A strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively, independently and as part of a team, are critical to success in this role.
- Strong Benefits Administration experience and knowledge and understanding of the broker\consultant sales ecosystem.
- Bachelor's degree preferred. A CFA and/or MBA are a plus.
- Hands-on PC proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Salesforce.
- Cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to influence stakeholders through communication.
- Strong client service mindset dedicated to exceeding customer expectations.
- Ability to prepare both internal and external communications.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and improve workflow processes.
- Strong project management skills including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to travel (<25%).

Specific benefit offerings vary by position and may be subject to change.
Standard working hours are 8am-5pm Central Time, unless otherwise stated in the Job Description.
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $150,000-$160,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired at bswift, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package!
