The communications specialist will be responsible for partnering with the Global Services (GS) Strategy & Communications team to develop and implement internal communications and recognition programs that inform, engage, and motivate our employees. You will create compelling, high-quality content, craft employee news stories, and manage GS communications channels using your excellent communications and creative design skills.

This role requires a communicator with a passion for informing, engaging, and motivating employees and an interest in learning about how to use internal communications strategies to support overall business objectives. You should be self-motivated, a great listener, and have excellent interpersonal skills.

As a Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Partnering with employees across GS to uncover, draft, and share news stories
  • Gathering and analyzing communications metrics that enable us to continuously improve our work
  • Creating and managing employee recognition programs
  • Supporting the planning and execution of our quarterly All Hands meetings and other recurring employee engagement forums
  • Managing internal comms collateral with regular updates, governance, and visibility (Google Drive)
  • Drafting announcements, executive presentations & messages, internal blog posts, etc.
  • Participating in Akamai's Global Communications Network to ensure alignment and information-sharing across our global organization

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
  • Have solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Have an eye for design, and aptitude for using images and video to aid in storytelling
  • Have the ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and track details in a dynamic environment
  • Be a dedicated team player, comfortable working in a large, complex, and highly matrixed organization
  • Have previous exposure to using intranet tools (ideal, but not required)

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $65,700 - $118,300/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Akamai provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation (in the form of PTO), sick time, family friendly benefits including parental leave and an employee assistance program including a focus on mental and financial wellness; Eligibility requirements apply.
