About the role

We are looking to add a Security Officer to our growing Security Department. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for providing a safe environment for our Riot Employees. This on-site position will directly support our security operations at our Rockdale, TX facility. The scheduled shift for this role is 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Thursday-Monday.


Essential Functions

  • Carry out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Report security violations and questionable activities, monitors facilities for damages from vandalism.
  • Patrol the property by motorized vehicle and/or foot to prevent crimes, enforce rules and protect workforce and property.
  • Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people in the property.
  • Secure all exits, doors and windows after end of operations.
  • Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation.
  • Provide assistance to people in need and use verbal de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Performs a variety of other duties assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have completed Level II or Level III security training and have a valid, unexpired Non-Commissioned Officer or Commissioned Officer certification.
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism, accountability, attention to detail, urgency, transparency, and personal appearance, including compliance with uniform and grooming standards.
  • Approach all encounters in a respectful, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Maintain weapons proficiency and self-defense readiness in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Demonstrate strong surveillance and observation skills, including experience utilizing surveillance systems and monitoring tools.
  • Quickly evaluate options and make sound, accurate decisions while anticipating, identifying, and resolving workplace issues through critical thinking, analysis, and effective problem-solving.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing, with guests, visitors, and employees; bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
  • Maintain current CPR/AED/First Aid certification or obtain certification upon hire if not already certified.
  • Work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Successfully pass background checks and drug screening requirements.
  • Meet required physical fitness standards, including reach and grasp capabilities.
  • Knowledge of or Experience with:
    • Security-related deficiencies (i.e., unsecured or damaged access barriers, inadequate or inoperative protective lighting, etc.)
    • Loitering or trespassing, property crimes: (theft, vandalism, arson, sabotage, etc.), violent crimes.
    • Use of intoxicants or non-prescription narcotic drugs.
    • Utility failures, hazardous conditions, fires, safety violations, accidents, and injuries
    • General disturbances and unwanted or concerning behavior.


Physical requirements and work environment

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move equipment as needed (50 pounds)
  • Ability to work onsite in a mining or data center environment (heat, noise, etc.)
  • Exposure to high noise levels and varying temperatures


Safety Requirements

  • PPE & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all site safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots).
  • Hazard Awareness: Proactively identify, report, and mitigate potential workplace hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • Standards: Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety training.
  • Organization: Keep all work areas clean and free of obstructions to prevent workplace accidents.
