The REIT Finance Group (RFG) provides corporate banking products and services to public and private REITs, sponsors, as well as other commercial real estate owners.
The RFG Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Management Director responsibilities include leading a team of portfolio managers, day-to-day management of the group's portfolio of loans, and partnering with Corporate Bankers for underwriting, documenting, monitoring and reacting to credit quality changes. This involves corporate level lending, capital structure advisory and to a smaller extent, asset-level lending. This role will be primarily focused on credit banking and portfolio management.

In this role, you will:
- Manage and develop a team of professional individual contributors who focus on the structure, underwriting, approval, documentation and ongoing maintenance of credit solutions (both regular-way and acquisition financing) for large, public, corporate, and institutional clients across the credit spectrum of moderate to high complexity and risk (both Investment Grade and Non-Investment Grade).
- Effectively partner with the Coverage Banking team to support new originations and closings as well as other stakeholders and internal partners associated with the Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Management functional area.
- Personally engage in the execution of the credit quality and performance of the largest and most complex scope of commercial real estate assets.
- Collaborate with senior team managers to develop strategies around relationship optimization and deal level execution while determining appropriate actions of Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Management team to meet moderate to high-risk deliverables.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen risk controls while promoting maintenance of a portfolio that adheres to applicable credit policies to minimize credit loss and support target ROE.
- Coordinate the preparation, quality and presentation of the ongoing and quarterly portfolio reporting, annual financial reviews, and grading justifications.
- Interpret and develop policies and procedures for functions with varying complexity within scope of responsibility including providing secondary reviews along with quality control and quality assurance for members of your team.
- Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy. Collaborate with and influence all levels of professionals, including more experienced managers, as well as interact directly with both internal and external customers.
- Review, research and make decisions in complex and multifaceted situations requiring exceptional understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that influence and lead a broader work team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives.
- Provide input on special CRE special projects and initiatives, leading as applicable. Lead projects, teams, or serve as a mentor for less experienced staff
- Build strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company
- Continuously seek opportunities for revenue generation and ensure clients are aware of the various products and services. This includes proactively partnering with ancillary product teams that require credit (i.e. swaps, treasury management, operating exposure, etc.) and line of business support.
- 8+ years of Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Management or leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of management or leadership experience
- 8+ years of corporate finance or commercial real estate origination underwriting and portfolio management experience
- Proven leadership within high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous development; skilled at influencing cross-functional stakeholders and driving alignment across complex credit portfolio strategies.
- Knowledge and understanding of US GAAP financial statements or components preparation
- Experience researching and documenting SEC/GAAP/REG issues in concise memorandums
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of corporate banking credits, cash flow analysis, and underwriting guidelines
- Ability to thoroughly analyze credits on an independent basis and communicate findings in a concise manner
- Familiarity with the commercial property types including multifamily, retail industrial, office, hospitality, etc.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to interact with all levels of an organization

- Ability to travel up to 5% domestically
