Support loan officers in managing and monitoring loan portfolios, assist in underwriting, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Engage with members and improve portfolio management efficiency.
Primary Purpose:
Assist loan officers in the daily management and monitoring of their loan portfolio to include loan underwriting for new and existing members and support with covenant and financial tracking to include some member interaction. Perform various other member service tasks and assignments as required.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist the loan officers with the loan approval process by obtaining and analyzing financials, preparing loan summaries and packages for approval.
- Attend outside prospect and member meetings as necessary.
- Monitor the maturing loan report and assist loan officer and administrative officer in underwriting loans for renewal. Complete quarterly and annual reviews of credits if necessary.
- Complete quarterly Problem Asset Reports for the loan officer’s portfolio for review and approval and assist with managing credit monitoring items.
- Learn about the Bank’s products and services and TFSG companies to assist the Commercial Bankers and Relationship Specialists as backup if needed. This will include traditional banking functions such as transferring funds to/from accounts, assisting members on the phone and via email, as well as following up with referrals to our TFSG partners.
- Work on special projects as requested to help improve efficiencies in the region’s overall loan portfolio management.
- Work along with and independently of the lenders to understand closing requirements for all loans as well as help clear exceptions as needed.
- Proactively build strong and effective partnerships with all business partners.
- Promote TowneBank within the community by volunteering and attending TowneBank sponsored events.
- Adheres to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent member service skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with internal and external members
- Familiar with effective lending and underwriting practices
- Experience with analyzing financial statements and underwriting commercial credit
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work well with various internal departments to achieve team goals and objectives
- Knowledge of banking industry policies and procedures
- Satisfactory completion of Credit and Small Business rotation or equivalent knowledge and experience in analyzing financial statements and underwriting commercial credit.

- Previous lending experience or experience in loan operations.
- Computer skills (Word and Excel)

- College degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
- Has a minimum of 8 years of experience of credit analysis/underwriting experience.
- Experience with banking to include small business, credit operations, and/or credit underwriting skills
Physical Requirements:

- Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
- Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
