The Role

Commercial Partnerships Manager, Private Equity and Venture Capital

We are looking for a Commercial Partner Manager to develop and scale our Financial Sponsor (PE/VC) Partnerships. This individual will be responsible for managing an existing portfolio of partners as well as cultivating net-new partnerships while developing strong relationships with PE and VC firms, portfolio companies, and relevant stakeholders to drive business growth. You will expand upon relationships, build a pipeline of opportunities, and advise on value creation by aligning our payment solutions with PE-backed companies’ needs.

What you’ll do
  • Relationship Management: Manage existing partners by developing strong relationships, trust, and regular engagement while cultivating net-new relationships in-line with global strategy.
  • Partnership Development: Identify and engage with key PE & VC firms to form strategic partnerships that drive new business opportunities and revenue.
  • Consultative Selling: Work with PE & VC firms to understand their portfolio companies’ payment needs and create tailored solutions that drive value across various sectors (e-commerce, SaaS, retail, embedded payments/financial products, etc.).
  • Pipeline Management: Build and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities by leveraging existing PE & VC relationships and identifying new prospects.
  • Thought Leadership: Provide insights into the evolving Payments ecosystem, contributing to our partners’ and organization’s success.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Partner with internal teams (sales, product, marketing, account management, and investor relations) to ensure the successful implementation of PE & VC partnerships and provide seamless support to portfolio companies.
  • Market Insights: Stay informed about industry trends, PE & VC activity, and competitive offerings to refine our strategy and product offerings accordingly.
  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as the point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders, providing guidance and support to ensure a successful partnership experience.
  • Performance Tracking: Define and track key metrics to assess the effectiveness of the PE channel as a growth driver, ensuring that goals and targets are met.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or a commercial role in the payments or fintech industry, with a deep understanding of the Financial Sponsor ecosystem.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling partnerships with PE & VC firms or working within a sponsor-backed environment.
  • Strong network and established relationships with private equity firms, venture capital firms, financial institutions, and/or portfolio companies.
  • Expertise in payments, commerce solutions, or related technology sectors, with a strong understanding of how payments can drive growth for portfolio companies.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Thoughtful strategic thinker with a bias for action and a creative mind; comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment with a high degree of ambiguity.
