About the role:

As the Commercial Litigation Recovery Lead at Enova, you will serve as the team's go-to advisor on litigation strategy, collections policy, and matters at the intersection of legal and operational risk. You will direct outside counsel on routine and complex commercial collections litigation, help set and enforce partner performance expectations, and translate portfolio insights into recommendations that shape how Enova recovers on defaulted small business loans. As a hands-on leader, you will support the Litigation, Bankruptcy, and Analytics segments, step in on escalated or contested matters, and assist with vendor management, training, and team development. The role reports to the Recovery Litigation Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the relationships with Enova's outside law firm network and OCAs, serving as the primary point of contact for partner leadership on performance, strategy, and escalations.
  • Direct outside counsel in routine and complex commercial collections litigation, collaborating on enterprise-wide and case-specific strategy, including post-judgment remedies such as garnishment, levies, and asset recovery.
  • Ensure litigation and collections activity across the internal team and partner network complies with applicable federal and state law.
  • Partner with Collections, Fraud, Legal, and Analytics to develop and implement strategies that increase recovery across the pre- and post-charge-off lifecycle for Enova’s small business portfolios.
  • Lead projects to help the recovery litigation team drive efficiency, improve processes, and increase production.
  • Support the Recovery Litigation Manager with training, coaching, and quality control for recovery team members, and with monthly and executive reporting on partner and litigation performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Prior experience working in a law firm, in-house legal department, or collection agency environment.
  • Experience with post-judgment remedies and creditor-side commercial bankruptcy.
  • Experience building or managing vendor scorecards, SLAs, or performance-based placement models.

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience in commercial collections, creditor-side litigation, commercial financial services or fintech, or creditor-side bankruptcy, with demonstrated exposure to managing outside counsel or third-party vendors.
  • Working knowledge of the laws and regulations governing commercial debt collection and judgment enforcement, or the ability to acquire it quickly.
  • Strong negotiation, critical thinking, and judgment; able to weigh legal risk against business outcomes and make sound recommendations under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to set expectations with external partners and present to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently, hold others accountable to deadlines, and operate with minimal oversight.
  • Proficiency in Excel and comfort navigating multiple systems of record (e.g., Salesforce, vendor management and litigation tracking platforms).

Compensation:

The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000. Actual annual salary will be determined based on qualifications, skills, experience, and level assessed during the hiring process and may fall outside of the range shown.
