Originate and service commercial loans within lending limits, develop and retain commercial relationships, analyze financials and creditworthiness, prepare loan documentation, perform credit checks, manage loan portfolio, make lending decisions or recommend to senior officers, ensure regulatory compliance (AML/BSA), and supervise staff as needed.
Primary Purpose:
Make and service commercial loans within lending limits. Perform other customer service routines as required and manage a commercial loan portfolio. May also make consumer loans and residential mortgage loans.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop new business for the bank by calling on prospective Commercial Dealership members
- Retain existing members through follow up and by providing excellent service
- Interview applicants to develop information concerning their businesses, needs, desires, abilities and earnings to determine whether a loan may be an acceptable risk
- Obtain and analyze financial data and provide service on approved lines of credit, equipment financing loans, etc.
- Draft necessary documents and agreements
- Conduct credit checks
- Make decisions on loans and terms if within the lending limits or make recommendations to a superior lending officer
- Follow current loans to ensure complete conformity with terms and knowledge of developing trends
- Call on potential or existing members and introduce them to other departments when another service is needed
- Supervise and give direction to staff (if applicable)
- Adheres to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Skills & Competencies:
- Previous lending experience or experience in loan operations or credit analysis
- Extensive knowledge of documentation and regulations
- Proven business development skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally
Desired Skills & Competencies:
- College degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
- Previous management or supervisory experience
- Computer skills (Word and Excel)
Physical Requirements:
- Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.
- Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
- Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
- Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
