Location: Charlotte, NC

A Business Development Company (“BDC”) is a closed-end investment company that has filed an election to be treated as a BDC pursuant to the Investment Company Act of 1940. Currently, Barings LLC is the investment adviser to three BDCs, Barings BDC, Inc. (“BBDC”), Barings Capital Investment Corporation (“BCIC”) and Barings Private Credit Corporation (“BPCC”). BBDC is publicly traded on the NYSE under the ticker BBDC and BCIC and BPCC are private/non-traded BDCs and not listed but still have similar SEC and Board requirements. The BDC Client Development Office supports the BDCs by leading equity capital raising initiatives, managing RFP responses, overseeing current and prospective shareholder engagement and coordinating other strategic client development efforts that advance the broader objectives of the BDC platform and Management Team.

Job Description

This position will support a broad range of initiatives central to the growth and execution of the BDC Client Development Office. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to synthesize information for both internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities span across RFP responses, equity capital‑raising preparation, shareholder engagement, and development of materials supporting the BDC Management Team. Responsibilities also include preparing presentations, supporting meetings, and handling ad hoc analyses. The position will reside in our corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support equity capital raising initiatives through preparation of marketing, due diligence materials and other investor facing materials.
  • Assist in managing and coordinating responses to RFPs and due diligence questionnaires to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Develop clear, accurate content to support investor and shareholder engagement efforts.
  • Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of BDC portfolio activity, performance trends, and pipeline developments to support internal and external reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with the BDC team, investor relations, onboarding, legal, and other internal partners to ensure the timely delivery of high‑quality client development materials and information.
  • Provide ad hoc analytical and project support across BDC initiatives, including preparing data analyses, summaries, and presentation content.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve workflows, and enhance the efficiency of client development deliverables.

Qualification

  • 3–5+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally within investment management, private credit, BDCs, asset management, investor relations, client development, or a related financial services environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting or a similar field.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in public / private credit markets preferred
  • Strong financial and mathematic abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills used for the collection and communication of information.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
