Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced and dedicated Client Account Manager to join our team, specifically focused on managing our relationship with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding the unique needs and priorities of our government client, facilitating effective communication, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects and services that align with the Department's goals. This role requires a deep understanding of TDOT as well as Tennessee transportation policies, procedures, and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between our organization and the Tennessee Department of Transportation, fostering a strong and collaborative partnership.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the Department's transportation objectives, initiatives, and challenges to provide tailored solutions and services.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the accurate interpretation and execution of the Department's requirements and expectations.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and communication channels with the client at multiple levels to review project progress, address concerns, and gather feedback.
  • Manage the successful delivery of projects by aligning AECOM’s global resources and ensuring resources adhere to local transportation regulations, safety standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Monitor the Department's needs and trends within the transportation industry, providing insights and recommendations for strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for expanding the scope of services offered to the Department and collaborate with sales teams to develop proposals.
  • Coordinate with technical teams to ensure that solutions align with the Department's goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for AECOM leadership highlighting project status, key sales metrics, and areas for improvement.
  • Lead efforts to resolve any escalated issues or disputes in a diplomatic and timely manner, collaborating with internal teams to find solutions.

  • Stay current with changes in transportation policies, regulations, and industry trends that may impact TDOT's projects or objectives.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all client interactions, communications, and project-related documentation.
  • Organize and participate in relevant industry conferences, workshops, and networking events to represent the organization and foster relationships.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering or related field with 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership
  • Proven experience as a Client Account Manager, TDOT Project Manager or in a similar client-facing role within the Tennessee transportation market.
  • Proven knowledge of TDOT standards, policies, regulations, and procedures within a government context.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Tennessee Professional Engineering License preferred.
  • Excellent communication, proposal preparation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with government officials and stakeholders.
  • Strong history managing the execution of complex transportation projects and programs, preferably for TDOT.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights to drive decision-making.
  • Ability to navigate bureaucratic processes, manage government expectations, and ensure compliance.
  • Proficiency in using client relationship management tools and software to track project progress and manage client relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges and finding solutions.
