A day in the life.

As the Chief Marketing Officer of the National Marketing and Communications team, you’ll play a critical role in shaping how MMA goes to market, strengthening the firm’s brand in the middle market, and enabling our producers and advisors to win in an increasingly competitive environment.

The CMO will oversee the firm’s marketing, communications, thought leadership, industry positioning, and sales enablement functions, ensuring that marketing becomes a strategic driver of growth across the organization.

This role reports to the President of Marsh McLennan Agency and partners closely with executive leadership across revenue, operations, and regional leadership teams.

The ideal candidate combines strategic vision, commercial acumen, and operational discipline to build a modern marketing organization that supports MMA’s long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Collaboration

    • Partner closely with sales, executive and field leadership to develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that supports MMA’s growth objectives and enhances brand awareness in the insurance marketplace.

    • Foster strong partnerships with business leaders, sales, product teams, and external partners to ensure marketing initiatives are aligned with field needs and business priorities.

    • Align and support enterprise brand equity goals through collaborative strategies and awareness building initiatives in partnership with the parent organization.

  • Practice-Specific Marketing Functions

    • Oversee marketing efforts tailored to specific insurance practices or product lines, ensuring relevance and resonance with target audiences.

    • Collaborate with practice leaders to develop differentiated value propositions and go-to-market plans.

  • Brand & Corporate Communications

    • Lead stewardship of the company’s brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging and positioning across all channels and touchpoints.

  • Channel Marketing

    • Design and implement channel marketing strategies that empower distribution partners and sales teams to effectively engage clients and prospects.

    • Collaborate with channel leaders to tailor marketing programs that address unique market segments and distribution models.

  • Marketing Technology & Insights

    • Drive the adoption and optimization of marketing technology platforms to enhance campaign effectiveness, customer engagement, and data-driven decision-making.

    • Lead the marketing insights function to generate actionable intelligence on market trends, customer behavior, and competitive dynamics that inform strategy and execution.

  • Team Leadership & Development

    • Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing marketing team capable of delivering innovative and impactful marketing programs.

    • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Leadership Responsibilities

The CMO will lead a national marketing and communications organization responsible for:

• Marketing analytics

This leader will work closely with regional leadership teams to support local market initiatives while ensuring national alignment.

We’d love to meet you if your professional track record includes these skills:

  • Proven experience as a senior marketing leader, preferably as a CMO or equivalent, within the insurance or financial services industry.

  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt strategies to stakeholder needs, and to foster an environment of collaboration in a matrix organization.

  • Strong expertise in brand management, corporate communications, channel marketing, marketing technology, and data-driven marketing insights.

  • Exceptional collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to understand and address the needs of field teams and business partners.

  • Experience managing marketing functions across diverse product lines or business practices, with an exceptional ability to lead and inspire a team.

  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a results-oriented mindset.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with executive leadership, marketing colleagues and other stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $178,600 to $312,500.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
