Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the wind blades design teams and controlled title holders within the Wind engineering team throughout the project lifecycle - from concept design to design development to product launch to installed fleet operations. Accountable for overall technical underwriting of designs in the area of wind turbine blades.
Lead the CTHs within blades ensuring technical rigor in design reviews, root cause analysis, design methods and tools.
Set strategy and deliver improvements in engineering design practices for blades to enable engineering design execution that results in high quality products and services.
Work across the entire wind turbine blades value chain and partner with non-engineering stakeholders such as manufacturing and sourcing to solve cross-functional issues.
Conceptualize, lead, or support development of blade system-level solutions to avoid catastrophic blade failures including condition monitoring, mechanical dampers, and lightning protection and monitoring.
Identify and bring forward continuous improvement in engineering design processes with a focus on safety and quality by working with design teams, CTHs, and cross functional teams.
Provide technical support and expertise to internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
Set the strategy for engagement in relevant industry regulations and standards committees and ensure execution of the strategy to influence the outcome of regulations and standards.
Conduct risk assessments and assist teams in developing mitigation strategies to address technical challenges and ensure safe, high-quality products and services.
Partner with Subsystem / System leaders to define technology roadmap for blades and ensure technology innovation is ready for new product introduction.
Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional growth through coaching & mentoring for controlled title holders and broader engineering team in your discipline.
Working with people leaders, set and execute strategy for mentoring and developing CTH technical talent by appropriate allocation of design reviews, design practices, accident scenario reviews, and root cause analyses.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or related discipline
Recognized expert the design of wind turbine blades and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
Prior relevant technical leadership experience guiding teams through the design process to deliver safe, high quality products.
Desired Characteristics
- Advanced degree (MSc, PhD) with a focus on wind energy, structural mechanics, composite materials, or related discipline
- Demonstrated exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to individuals at all levels of the organization while ensuring transparency and gaining alignment with internal/external stakeholders.
- Proven track record of complex issue resolution by coordinating cross-functional teams and demonstrating analytical problem-solving skills bringing to bear tools such as failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), reliability engineering, RCA 8D process, etc.
- In-depth knowledge of wind turbine industry standards and regulations and track record of engaging with and influencing standards committees.
- Track record of curiosity and a strong passion for identifying and turning new ideas, technologies, and methodologies into product differentiated outcomes.
- Experience with coaching, mentoring and developing technical engineering talent to guide their professional growth and career advancement.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $166 000,00 and $276 600,00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
