Job Responsibilities:
The Category and ESG Data Analyst will support the Strategic Category Leads, supplier relationships, and cost optimization initiatives. This role is responsible for data analysis, market intelligence, development and implementation of ESG (Environmental Social and Governance) requirements to all Magna Exteriors suppliers and reporting that enable fact-based decision-making and strategic category management across global operations. This position will also be responsible for overseeing category data management requirements for the products we purchase. This includes to oversight on commodity code utilization and data fields used so consolidation of our group buy is accurately reflected.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect, analyze, and interpret purchasing and market data (pricing, volume, supplier performance).
- Prepare dashboards, reports, and presentations to support category strategies and executive updates.
- Ensure data accuracy in procurement systems (SAP/ERP or other tools).
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and mitigate supply risks.
- Support category management team via oversight the data received from our divisions.
- Identify data integrity issues, i.e. missing fields, incorrect spend category codes, and work with divisions to correct.
- Support category leads with various initiatives assigned.
Market & Supplier Intelligence
- Monitor resin and plastics markets, including trends in raw material pricing, supply/demand shifts, and global trade impacts.
- Benchmark suppliers and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
Category & Sourcing Support
- Assist in the development and execution of sourcing strategies for resins and plastics.
- Support supplier negotiations through data preparation, cost analysis, and scenario modeling.
- Maintain supplier databases, contracts, and performance scorecards.
- Support sustainability and compliance initiatives within the supply base.
Supply Chain ESG Monitoring
- Support the sustainability team & Magna International SCM organization in rolling out Supply Chain ESG Monitoring systems
- Support suppliers in responding to ESG supply chain monitoring systems
- Facilitate one on one discussions with critical suppliers to ensure they meet Supply Chain ESG nomination criteria
- Lead follow up actions derived from responses, such as supplier corrective activities for underperforming ESG suppliers and supplier escalations.
Supply Chain ESG Liaison
- Point of contact for ESG-related topics for suppliers
- Support due diligence obligations (legal, CSRs,...) related to the Supply Chain
- Support Group and Division purchasing in communicating with OEMs & suppliers on ESG-relevant topics
- Support the Sustainability team & Magna International SCM organization in interacting with suppliers to promote sustainability goals
- Support the Sustainability team & Magna International SCM organization in developing feasible strategies and targets for Groups and Divisions
- Actively participate in the company's ESG meetings at Magna/Group/Division level.
Supply Chain ESG Support

Experience - • 3 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, finance, or data analysis in automotive/manufacturing environment (internships or co-ops considered).• Previous work with ESG programs, including familiarity with local, state, federal regulations are preferred.• Demonstrated ability to work in and lead in a large matrix organization, work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization, and get results through others by building constructive, trusting relationships with internal partners and global supply base.• Project Management or systems implementation experience is preferred.• Strong PC skills required along with knowledge and experience with data analysis tools such as Power BI and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
