We’re seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Manager to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll and benefits operations. This role has primary responsibility for Canada, with additional support for U.S. payroll activities. It’s a hands-on opportunity for someone who is collaborative, detail-focused, and eager to grow in a global environment.
You will partner closely with Payroll & Benefits, HR, Finance, and external vendors to deliver a reliable payroll and benefits experience for a growing workforce, including newly acquired international entities.
What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end Canadian payroll processing, including data validation, gross-to-net review, and payroll submissions.
- Partner with third-party payroll providers to resolve issues and ensure timely, compliant processing.
- Lead initiatives related to payroll system enhancements, including a planned transition to a more scalable Canadian payroll provider
- Respond to employee payroll and benefit inquiries with accuracy and professionalism.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations, journal entries, and audit support.
- Maintain payroll calendars, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
- Manage year-end payroll activities, including tax filings and reporting.
- Support Canadian benefits administration in partnership with the Senior Benefits Manager, including enrollments, life events, terminations, invoice reconciliation, and vendor coordination
- Coordinate payroll and benefits setup, transitions, and data validation for newly acquired international entities, and support the integration of payroll and benefits for acquisitions, including system mapping, data migration, policy alignment, and employee transition.
- Contribute to developing and implementing firm-approved, AI-enabled solutions for clients, in accordance with company policies on data protection, intellectual property, and professional standards.
- Stay informed about emerging AI tools and techniques and collaborate with firm leadership to identify compliant opportunities to enhance client solutions and internal processes.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of payroll experience, ideally with exposure to HR, benefits, and international operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing Canadian payroll operations
- Working knowledge of Canadian benefits administration
- Experience supporting or leading a payroll system implementation or transition
- Solid understanding of payroll taxes, compliance, payroll accounting, and benefits administration.
- Experience with payroll systems and vendors (e.g., Workday, ADP, CloudPay) preferred.
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Comfort with AI: Demonstrated ability to responsibly explore and adopt firm-approved AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation.
- Continuous Learning Mindset: Openness to learning and applying emerging technologies, including AI and automation, in alignment with firm policies and client standards.
- Clear communication to collaborate effectively with HR, Finance, and external partners.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
