The CAAS Projects Advisory Manager leads project-based accounting and finance engagements that help customers navigate growth, transition, leadership changes, and operational challenges. As a trusted advisor, the Manager quickly understands each customer’s needs, develops practical solutions, leads project execution, and delivers results that strengthen accounting operations and support business priorities.

Engagements may include interim or fractional Controller support, cash-to-accrual conversions, month-end close optimization, accounting cleanup and remediation, accounting process improvement, ERP and accounting system transitions, and other strategic accounting and finance projects. No two engagements are exactly alike, providing the opportunity to work across industries, business challenges, and stages of growth.

This role is ideal for an accounting leader who enjoys variety, solving complex business problems, developing people, and making a visible impact.

Why This Opportunity Is Different

You will help organizations solve important accounting and finance challenges, improve how their teams operate, and move confidently through periods of growth and change.

Responsibilities
  • Lead project-based accounting and finance engagements, including interim or fractional Controller support, cash-to-accrual conversions, accounting cleanup and remediation, month-end close optimization, process improvement, and ERP or accounting system transitions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers navigating growth, leadership transitions, staffing constraints, acquisition integration, or changes in their accounting and finance functions.
  • Quickly understand unfamiliar accounting environments, establish priorities, and develop practical plans that address immediate needs while strengthening longer-term operations.
  • Provide accounting leadership in Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar capacities when an engagement requires hands-on support.
  • Balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution while effectively leveraging seniors and other team members.
  • Lead two to five concurrent engagements and coordinate priorities, resources, timelines, and deliverables as customer needs evolve.
  • Develop project scopes, work plans, budgets, staffing plans, and status reporting; proactively address risks, scope changes, and delivery barriers.
  • Manage engagement economics, including profitability, budget-to-actual results, billing, collections, and scope management.
  • Build trusted relationships with CFOs, Controllers, business owners, private equity stakeholders, and other customer leaders.
  • Mentor and develop seniors and staff through effective delegation, coaching, feedback, and hands-on learning opportunities.
  • Maintain responsibility for the quality, accuracy, timeliness, and practical usefulness of customer deliverables.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Generally 7 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience; demonstrated capability and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Prior public accounting audit experience.
  • Experience in Client Accounting and Advisory Services (CAAS/CAS), outsourced accounting, accounting advisory, or an Assistant Controller, Controller, or comparable accounting leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects, customer relationships, or accounting workstreams simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring ability; formal direct-report experience is not required.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, project-management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in fast-paced and changing environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA license.
  • Experience with private equity-backed companies or portfolio companies.
  • Experience with interim Controller or fractional Controller services, cash-to-accrual conversions, accounting cleanup, or month-end close optimization.
  • Experience supporting organizations through accounting leadership turnover, rapid growth, acquisition integration, or significant change.
  • Experience with workflow automation or accounting process improvement.
