Freese and Nichols is seeking a Business Development Strategist to join our team in any of our locations across our expanding national footprint. Business Development Strategist, you will support our  growth strategy by designing, improving, and scaling firmwide business development processes, tools, and operating  practices. This role is internally focused and highly process-driven, with minimal direct client-facing responsibilities.

Reporting to the Corporate Business Development Leader (CBDL) and working closely with Divisional, and Regional Business Development Leaders, the BDS plays a key role in continuous improvement—turning strategic intent into clear, repeatable, and well-documented business development practices. Success in this role is measured by improved consistency, efficiency, adoption, and communication of business development processes across the firm.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the design, maintenance, and continuous improvement of opportunity management processes, including pipeline governance, forecasting inputs, and reporting standards
  • Coordinate and support structured internal processes for pursuit and account planning, including strategy reviews and decision‑making cadence
  • Review and maintain standardized opportunity planning, account planning, and positioning readiness frameworks used across the firm.
  • Partner with Business Development, Marketing, Growth & Technical and Operations teams to support consistent execution of sales and growth strategies
  • Maintain CRM data accuracy and support reporting and account/opportunity planning activities across teams
  • Support Go/No‑Go improvement process reviews and opportunity readiness activities through structured inputs and documentation
  • Prepare CRM dashboards, Power BI summaries, and reporting materials for Business Development leadership reviews
  • Develop and maintain Business Development templates, tools, and process documentation
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives that enhance Business Development operations and effectiveness

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in business administration, marketing, planning, engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in sales and/or industry business development or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Ability to work with all levels of personnel and clients
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organization and attention to detail

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications or related field
  • Experience in AEC business development
  • Experience with Excel and Power BI, CRM systems, and client account/opportunity planning
  • Exposure to continuous improvement or operational excellence frameworks a plus
  • Active involvement in industry professional organizations or community leadership roles
