Wingtra is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Business Development Manager to spearhead our expansion into the US Government sector. If you thrive on building relationships in complex government ecosystems and want to make a real-world impact with cutting-edge drone technology, read on.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a lead funnel, ensuring continuous engagement through direct efforts or with partners.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams to address client challenges and propose value-added solutions.
- Serve as the primary advocate for government clients within our organization.
- Represent the company at government events, leveraging networking skills to build strategic relationships with agencies such as DHS, DoD, DOI and state level DOTs for example.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to generate leads, and assist in closing early deals. Support the transition of validated opportunities to product and customer teams for scaling.
- Plan and coordinate demo trips, events, and customer meetings. Represent Wingtra at industry association events such as AUVSI.
- Build relationships with local distribution partners to support lead development and market access.
- Stay abreast of government trends, funding programs, and procurement processes.
- Gain expertise in the US government's regulatory framework for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and monitor policy updates relevant to our market presence.

- Government engagement initiatives (Number of strategic engagements initiated with federal, state, or local government agencies per quarter.)
- Agency expansion rate and adoption (local and new geographic regions)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, public policy, engineering, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in sales management or business development, preferably with large enterprise or government clients
- Proven ability to build trust and close complex deals with senior-level stakeholders in a government or commercial enterprise environment
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with a structured, strategic mindset and strong follow-through
- Tech-savvy: experience with HubSpot or other CRM tools
- Able to manage long sales cycles with persistence and creativity
- Comfortable working remotely and traveling frequently (up to 50%)
- Driven, curious, and continuously looking to grow your skill set
Plus
- Background in GIS, surveying, construction, mining, or drone technology
- Established network within the geospatial, mining, or public works sectors
- Familiarity with UAV regulations and drone use cases in public sector applications
- Familiarity with government contracts, procurement processes, and funding mechanisms
