POSITION SUMMARY:

DuBois Chemicals is seeking an experienced high-level sales professional to penetrate and grow within the specialty chemicals market. Business Development Manager (BDM) should be ambitious and motivated to identify, develop, and close new business opportunities at an efficient rate. Demonstrate the company’s core competencies of communication, customer focus, innovation, integrity & ethics, lean & safety, and passion to succeed.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Aggressively grow profitability and develop business in the Illinois market.  BDM position is solely a fast-paced sales role with minimal service responsibilities.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities which involve researching markets, identifying potential clients and developing strategies to approach them.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with existing customers, ensuring their needs are met and identify opportunities for upselling or cross selling.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies to expand market share and achieve revenue targets.
  • Negotiate and close contracts and agreements with customers.
  • Regularly monitor market trends and competitor activities while developing effective strategies.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing and product development teams to ensure a cohesive approach to business development.
  • Report business activities and results (Key Performance Indicators) to leadership.
  • Build a robust sales pipeline that supports expected profitable growth along with effective management of a sales funnel.
  • Manage a complex sale that involves multiple contacts and potential longer sales cycles.
  • Travel to visit current customers and prospective customers to increase sales and profitability.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions with or without accommodations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 5+ years’ experience with specialty chemicals including metalworking, surface finishing and/or water treatment applications or sales experience is required.
  • Strong consultation, negotiation problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven demonstration of negotiating contracts and agreements.
  • Ability to analyze market data and develop effective growth strategies.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, competitor activities and customer needs.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and ensure timely execution.
  • Goal oriented and proactive approach to seeking new business.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and lead generation tools.
  • Demonstrated job performance of high-level sales results on a continuous basis.
  • Ability to build relationships with potential lead sources including OEMS and mechanical contractors.
  • Involvement with Manufacturing Associations aligned with field of expertise desirable.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% including overnight travel.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related discipline.
  • Actively involved in industrial community professional groups
