To lead a holistic business continuity process and governance framework for building organizational resilience by empowering Vanguard's diverse and global business with the capability for effective response, recovery, and restoration of operations to safeguard the interest of all stakeholders.
This role sits within Business Continuity and Crisis Management (BCM)’s Program Oversight and Enablement Team (POET). POET is responsible for many of the foundational elements of Vanguard’s Global Business Continuity Management Program, including the Global Business Continuity Policy and Standards, business resilience solutions within the Archer eGRC platform, and the coordination of RFI/RFP/DDQ responses, internal audits, compliance reviews, and legal/regulatory inquiries. The team also leads continuity‑related training and continuing education, BCM communications and change management, and relationship management across Vanguard’s global Continuity Community.
In this role, you will join a department with enterprise‑wide impact while serving as the primary driver for BCM’s Quality Assurance and EBS Management workstreams. You will gain valuable insight on Vanguard’s global operations, partner closely with key stakeholders across all Vanguard divisions and regions, and help advance a consistent and mature global resilience posture.
Core Responsibilities
1. Advances BCM's data quality agenda by driving Quality Assurance (QA) process(es).
2. Acts as primary liaison between BCM and Vanguard's Continuity Community to coordinate QA-related activities, share information and best practices, ensure adherence to the Global Business Continuity Standards Acts, and improve relevant metrics.
3. Ensures up-to-date data of and reporting on Vanguard's Essential Business Services (EBS).
4. Provides advice, guidance, and oversight to EBS standards, expectations, and ongoing maintenance.
5. Enables Vanguard’s EBS divisions to prepare for, respond to, and recover to business as usual from a catastrophic event.
6. Engages with EBS Advisors and key divisional/regional stakeholders to ensure accountability for decision-making and ongoing EBS ownership.
7. Supports enterprise in relationships with audit and government regulators on business continuity issues.
8. Provides training, maintenance, and ongoing support for approved EBS-related resources.
9. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of five years related work experience. Three years of business contingency or disaster recovery management experience.
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP), Associate Business Continuity Professional (ACBP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or progress towards business continuity planning certification is preferred.
