The Job/What You'll Do:

Business Consultants deliver comprehensive business consulting and practice management advice, solutions, and expertise to AssetMark advisors and partner relationships. AssetMark Business Consultants work closely with the AssetMark sales team members to deliver unparalleled consulting value, drive client awareness, deepen partnerships, develop direct business strategies, perform business assessments, make recommendations, and identify solutions. This
role is responsible for improving the business performance, client satisfaction, and value for engaged offices and advisors, and must demonstrate knowledge of industry best practices across core business areas.
 

Business Consultants are responsible for conducting business assessments, providing direction, education, and advice, supporting work-product development, and designing, documenting, and implementing resources with and for advisors.
Business Consultants must be able to speak with prospects, facilitate discussions, and deliver live and virtual presentations to large and small groups.

Business Consultants may spend up to 50% of their time traveling to client offices, speaking engagements, and professional development seminars.

Responsibilities:

Business Consulting:

  • Responsible for the strategic planning, design, and implementation of assigned business consulting programs
  • Oversee and manage the facilitation of the advisor program structure, including promotion, content, and resources
  • Responsible for assessing, analyzing, and advising advisor clients on all business/practice management aspects, particularly in business strategy and planning, human capital, operations, branding, marketing, and business transition (M&A, valuation, and succession planning)
  • Responsible for managing client engagements in coordination with the consulting team, including project management, relationship management, business analytics, and client advice
  • Design, direct, and develop business strategies and solutions to meet client needs, including, but not limited to:
    • Consulting, advising, and creating programs to fill the gaps between actual situations and desired ones
    • Developing management and supervisory skills for advisors and staff
    • Improving work performance and organizational communication
    • Increasing team member motivation and morale
    • Defining the company’s mission, goals, and objectives
    • Achieving customer satisfaction and customer loyalty
    • Coaching, guiding, and training employees
    • Raising the company’s client base and market segment
  • Conduct client on-site meetings, telephone conferences, and webinars according to Engagement Standards documentation
  • Provide ongoing assessment of client situation and progress, identify potential issues, and propose solutions
  • Provide appropriate and meaningful advice related to the growth and development of the client's business
  • Provide succession planning and M&A support, conduct due diligence, and source potential deals
  • Perform and supervise complex research and analysis
  • Design, direct, and draft client work product, review and approve work product from the consulting team
  • Maintain excellent client relationships and deliver results, ensuring a positive client experience

Business & Organizational Development:

  • Participate in marketing and awareness campaigns for assigned advisor programs, services, and key business initiatives
  • Participate in designing and delivering consulting subject matter presentations for educational and marketing purposes
  • Participate in organizational development, business development, and critical business initiatives that support revenue growth and development of the business, including, but not limited to:
    • Speaking at AssetMark conferences, partner firm conferences, and industry events; conducting group coaching retreats, participating in business strategy, working with consulting groups on critical projects, and any other projects assigned that support business development or key business objectives
  • Collaborate with the AssetMark Sales Team to develop and deepen advisor relationships to improve client loyalty, drive AUM growth, and improve asset retention
  • Provide oversight, training, and mentorship to team members

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Manage consulting engagements according to firm standards of practice, including using approved forms, templates, and materials
  • Utilize Salesforce and other technology according to the protocol to report, track, and manage all client engagements, activities, and opportunities. 
  • Lead, manage, or participate in the investigation, assessment, and research for critical initiatives as assigned by management
  • Participate in and support full and purposeful integration with and support the AssetMark Sales Team
  • Provide training, mentorship, and education to business consulting team members and other staff of AssetMark to ensure understanding of future functions, services, and support
  • Consultants may be required to travel as much as 50% of the time, depending on business and client needs

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, with an advanced degree or financial designations, preferred
  • 5+ years of business consulting and practice management experience in the financial services industry
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Word (advanced preferred)
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel (advanced preferred)

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $125,000-$165,000.

 

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location.

This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
