 Business Analyst – ESG and Sustainability

In This Role

You will serve as a Business Operations Specialist supporting enterprise-wide sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting efforts. This role bridges business operations and environmental compliance by enabling effective internal processes, supporting regulatory and customer-facing reporting, and improving sustainability data management. You will collaborate across various departments to ensure accurate and timely delivery of ESG data, while also helping to shape the processes and tools used to meet evolving regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align on ESG reporting processes and operational support needs (approximately 33% of time).

  • Develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs), reporting frameworks, and internal process documentation (33%).

  • Prepare and deliver ESG and sustainability reports for regulatory bodies and customer inquiries (33%).

  • Maintain communication channels across internal business units to ensure reporting consistency and stakeholder alignment.

  • Track project budgets, review contracts and proposals, and monitor transactions to identify potential cost overruns.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental and social reporting systems and data governance.

  • Analyze business metrics and performance indicators to inform strategic sustainability decisions.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience in business operations, ESG, sustainability reporting, or similar roles.

  • Proven experience preparing ESG reports and engaging with stakeholders in large, matrixed organizations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI and Excel for reporting, visualization, and analysis.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with senior leadership and subject matter experts.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical mindset and understanding of strategic planning, budget tracking, and business operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as:

    • Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)

    • Energy Efficiency Directive (EED)

    • Carbon/Climate Risk Reporting

  • Background working in complex, high-scale environments such as tech, energy, pharma, or hyperscale data operations.

  • Degree in environmental science, sustainability, business, engineering, or other numerate/scientific disciplines (not required, but preferred).

  • Experience driving process improvement initiatives or supporting digital transformation in sustainability operations.

  • Interest or exposure to agentic AI or emerging technologies applied to ESG functions.

Salary Range

Pay ranges vary based on multiple factors including, without limitation, skill sets, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographical market. The pay range for this position reflects geographic based ranges for Washington state $27.75 - $29.33/hr. The salary/wage and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
