About the Opportunity

Job Summary: 

The position reports to the Director of Finance in the College of Professional Studies (CPS). The incumbent is responsible for the management of a portfolio of CPS expense budgets, including operational, grant, scholarship, and restricted accounts. The incumbent is responsible for forecasting expense budgets, identify and resolve budget related issues, maintain expense controls, review monthly expenditures and projections with various department heads, ensure appropriateness and accuracy of expenditures, and conform with College/University policy and procedures 

Key Responsibilities: 

25%: Collaborate on the management of expense budgets by reviewing expenditures to ensure accuracy, compliance with procedures, and adherence to regulations. Work with budget leads to confirm that spending aligns with plans, transactions are accurate and properly approved, and budgets remain with their allocated limits. 

25%: Contribute to monthly projections for expenses, revenue, and restricted accounts. Assist program areas in managing their budgets, including both discretionary and salary components. This involves creating clear and comprehensive plans tailored for individuals without a financial background, as well as addressing salary budgets, faculty overloads, and open salary lines. 

25%: Oversee the College's third-party billing accounts to ensure student accounts are accurate and payments are processed correctly. This includes monitoring invoices and tracking received payments. 

10%: Assist as necessary in the purchasing and requisition process 

15%: Assist as necessary with various ad hoc projects within the College. Such projects can include one-time analyses, specialized projects, etc. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Economics.
  • Minimum of 3 years of financial/accounting experience, preferably in higher education or non-profit environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Workday Finance preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and extreme attention to detail; accuracy of finished work is critical.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the University.
