The Backend API Engineer will design and implement APIs and services for agents and UI, focusing on performance, security, and real-time features.
The Backend API Engineer will build the APIs and platform services that agents and the UI consume. They will also be responsible for performant, reliable, secure endpoints and real-time interfaces enabling token streaming, traces, and event-driven workflows.
Responsibilities
- Build APIs using FastAPI / Node.js in AWS Lambda or ECS/EKS.
- Implement WebSocket support for streaming agent output.
- Manage routing, rate limits, token streaming, session management.
- Implement signed Bedrock calls through VPC endpoints.
- Partner with Front-End and Agent Engineers on schema contracts.
- Integrate EventBridge, SQS/SNS, SecretsManager.
Qualifications
- Production microservice experience.
- Bedrock API + token streaming experience.
- Secure API design competency.
- Strong performance optimization skills.
- Minimum - bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering.
- Preferred – AWS Developer certifications.
