We use controlled-environment technology to mimic a multitude of conditions to allow plants, fungi and microorganisms to grow faster and better.On Earth, we are pioneering molecular and bio-farming, boosting production of nutrients, metabolites and bioactive compounds in plants while providing a sustainable and safe source of plant materials. Our customers are large beauty, perfume, natural ingredients, food&beverage and nutraceuticals companies. 

To advance space exploration, we work with space agencies and private companies and provide them bio-farming units to grow efficiently food for astronaut and/or conduct research on impact of microgravity on plant molecular composition.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Interstellar Lab software team is building highly reliable systems for the control & monitoring of our products all around the world. Our software suite is fully integrated, from data collection in embedded devices up to web applications in the cloud bridging into a single workflow IT and OT development. We look for engineers who love solving problems and seek to make an impact on an inspiring project. As we expand this team, we're looking for versatile, motivated, and collaborative engineers.You have a passion for code and programming, you generalize concepts quickly, you always strive for clean code and understand how users will use/abuse your apps. You are always eager to learn more and work in an innovative mindset.You must have excellent skills in programming (Golang and Python preferred), strong experience in building APIs and in designing comprehensive software architectures. Having experience and knowledge in data engineering will be a real plus.

RESPONSABILITIES

• Create highly reliable software systems for the control & monitoring of our products all around the world
• Build automated software systems that integrate smart data processing with command and control of our products
• Develop tools that allow for test execution across multiple environments: from virtualized hardware to real hardware-in-the-loop testing 
• Lead the backend development of our applications
• Continuous enhancement of the software architecture
• Responsible for the code quality
• Deployment in a production environment

PROFILE

• 5 years or more of professional experiences in software development with a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or math
• Developed and deployed software that has been used in real-world applications and projects
• Solid fundamental knowledge of computer architecture and networks 
• Excellent skills in Golang or Python
• Good knowledge of APIs; experience with GraphQL and gRPC is especially appreciated
• Experience with IoT technologies (MQTT, etc.)
• Good knowledge of databases SQL and noSQL. Ideally: Elasticsearch, SQLite, PostgresSQL, InfluxDB
• Git workflow and Docker is your daily routine

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French (if possible)
• Rigorous and proactive mindset
• Ability to manage unexpected events with tight deadlines
