AWS Workspaces Engineer (Remote Opportunity)

VetsEZ is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support The HIE Analytics program with hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating Amazon WorkSpaces in enterprise environments. This role will focus on platform implementation, lifecycle management, performance optimization, and operational stability of WorkSpaces within a VA-managed cloud environment.

Responsibilities:

• Amazon WorkSpaces Platform Engineering
• Deploy and manage Amazon WorkSpaces environments
• Configure and maintain directory integration (AD Connector / Managed AD)
• Create, maintain, and version golden images
• Manage bundle selection and optimization
• Support WorkSpaces pools (if applicable)
• Implement lifecycle management (provisioning, rebuild, restore, decommission)

Performance & Stability:

• Monitor WorkSpaces performance and user experience
• Troubleshoot latency, login, and connectivity issues
• Optimize resource allocation and right-size instances
• Support patching and image updates

Automation & Infrastructure as Code:

• Implement repeatable deployments using Terraform or CloudFormation
• Automate image builds and updates where feasible
• Document configurations and deployment patterns

Operational Support:

• Support incident resolution related to WorkSpaces
• Collaborate with VAEC for networking or IAM escalations when required
• Maintain configuration documentation
• Support audit and compliance evidence gathering

Requirements:

• 5+ years AWS experience
• 2+ years hands-on Amazon WorkSpaces deployment and operations
• Directory integration (AD Connector / AWS Managed AD)
• Golden image lifecycle management
•  WorkSpaces bundle performance tuning
• Strong troubleshooting and operational mindset
• Experience in enterprise or regulated environments
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience in VA or federal cloud environments
• Experience supporting analytics or data workloads
• AWS Associate certification (Solutions Architect or SysOps preferred)
• Familiarity with endpoint management strategies
