Job Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and experienced Leader for our Site Reliability Engineering Team to streamline the onboarding process for new applications and services into our monitoring ecosystem. In this role, you will lead a team of monitoring engineers and act as the primary liaison between development teams and monitoring platforms, ensuring all new applications are effectively integrated into observability systems, meet organizational standards, and have appropriate monitoring coverage from day one.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring Intake: Serve as the point of contact for all new application and service monitoring requests. Manage the intake process, including requirement gathering, prioritization, and approval workflows. Collaborate with application teams to understand business and technical requirements for monitoring. Define and enforce monitoring standards and best practices during the intake process.

  • ​Application Monitoring Onboarding: Lead the onboarding process for new applications into the organization’s monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana). Configure and deploy monitoring agents (e.g., Dynatrace OneAgent, Prometheus exporters) for new applications. Ensure all applications are set up with appropriate dashboards, alerting, and Service Level Indicators (SLIs). Validate that monitoring integrations are functional, complete, and meet organizational standards.

  • Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with application owners, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to align monitoring setups with application architecture. Act as a consultant to development teams, guiding them on observability and monitoring best practices.

  • Automation & Optimization: Partner with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Automation teams to ensure automated monitoring set up. Develop scripts and workflows to automate onboarding processes for new applications and services. Leverage APIs of monitoring tools to automate repetitive tasks and improve efficiency. Continuously refine and improve the monitoring intake and onboarding processes.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation for the monitoring intake process, onboarding procedures, and configurations. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on onboarding status and key metrics. Develop templates and guidelines for application teams to facilitate self-service onboarding where appropriate. Develop dashboards and metrics that communicate and enable transparency into operational KPIs, key risks, and progress. Ensure alerts are set up with proper documentation and standard operating procedures

Requirements:

  • 8+ years' experience in Operations working alongside strong, high-performing teams

  • 5+ years' experience in leveraging Observability and Monitoring tools to derive critical insights and improve Failed Client Interactions (FCI)

  • 3+ years of experience (Certification preferred) working with APM tools and Logging Platforms

  • 3+ years' experience with one of: Python, PowerShell, JavaScript

  • Strong understanding and experience in monitoring and observability

  • Strategic thinker who anticipates the future, inspires the team to improve reliability that enable delightful experiences at scale

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration and relationship-building

  • Ability to influence and drive change across the organization

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights

Preferences:

  • Certifications: Dynatrace Associate or Professional Certification.

  • Experience with Open Telemetry and other observability standards.

  • Knowledge of chaos engineering practices and their integration with Dynatrace.

  • Familiarity with AIOps platforms and automation solutions.

Pay Range:

$109,200-$182,000/year
 
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
