Job Overview:
The AVP, Data Platform Engineer leads development of data services and platform solutions needed to host business-critical applications that differentiate LPL in the market. This is a hands-on, technical lead role in the I&O organization that will architect and develop data platforms to support LPL’s overall platform and technology strategies.
Responsibilities:
Leads database platform modernization / transformation supporting enterprise applications
Lead research / design / architecture / development of enterprise database services on-prem and AWS Landing Zone (ALZ) utilizing IaC/IaaS/ PaaS solutions
Build scalable / resilient solutions and ensure proper instrumentation is in place for overall observability of platforms and services
Build / maintain database platforms that enable self-service and frictionless / agile delivery model
Build IaC solutions adhering to DevSecOps best practices utilizing tools such as Git, CloudFormation, Ansible and Terraform
Code / Implement guardrails to enable self-service and frictionless delivery allowing teams to build and own end-to-end applications and services in the cloud
Participate in Kanban delivery model to deliver sprint releases through stories/epics utilizing Jira to track all development work and track overall velocity
Accountable for site reliability engineering (SRE) activities to build highly available and scalable solutions and ensure problem observability of platforms / services
Build / Maintain strong partnerships with IT stakeholders including Delivery Engineering, Application Development, Architecture and Security

Requirements:
7+ years of MS SQL Server, and PostgreSQL, database architecture / design / implementation experience
5+ years experience with data integration and data replication services
5+ years experience designing / automating data management solutions across AWS storage services (EBS, EFS, S3, Glacier, Storage Gateway)
3+ years experience on AWS Well-Architected Framework, AWS Landing Zone and DevSecOps
5+ years experience building end-to-end automation for core infrastructure services
Preferences:
AWS Certified Database
Proven experience with data replication utilizing FiveTran HVR
AWS Solutions Architect
Ansible / Puppet / Terraform Certification
Experience with open telemetry including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, AWS Distro
Core Competencies:
Possess a thorough understanding of modern work practices such as DevSecOps, Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), Agile project Delivery, Release Engineering
Ability to convey technical solutions to the entire organization and experience working with senior leaders across the firm to leverage technology to drive positive business outcomes
Proven experience using system management configuration tools (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, CF/YAML/JSON) to deploy and manage infrastructure at scale
In depth understanding on AWS Well-Architected Framework / AWS Landing Zone
Extensive experience working in large technology ecosystems with emphasis on integrating multiple externally facing high scale, high volume, always-on mission-critical systems
Ability to convey technical solutions to the entire organization and experience working with senior leaders across the firm to leverage technology to drive positive business outcomes
Highly collaborative with experience in a hands-on technical leadership role

Pay Range:
$113,712-$189,520/yearActual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
