Job Description:

This job is responsible for building and leading a team to deliver technology products and services that meet business outcomes. Key responsibilities include developing a technology strategy, ensuring technology solutions comply with applicable standards, promoting design, engineering, and organizational practices, and advocating and advancing modern, Agile solution delivery practices. Job expectations may include coaching, mentoring, providing feedback and hands on career development, identifying emerging talent, fostering leadership skills, and managing stakeholders.

Overview:

Seeking a seasoned Infrastructure Automation Engineering Leader to head the development, governance, and strategic direction of the automation platforms across a federated enterprise ecosystem in Bank of America. This leadership role involves managing a team of automation engineers and driving the adoption of scalable automation platforms including Ansible Automation Platform, Cutover, and TrueSight Orchestrator.

The successful candidate will possess deep technical expertise in enterprise automation tools, Unix/Linux systems, and orchestration platforms, along with strong people management and cross-functional collaboration skills. This role is pivotal in shaping the automation strategy, ensuring consistency, security, and compliance across distributed teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Automation SDLC & Governance:

  • Design and implement SDLC processes for managing automation content across distributed teams
  • Develop controls and standards for shared automation catalogs, ensuring reusability and compliance
  • Lead conversion of legacy scripts (e.g., BladeLogic/TSSA) into modern automation workflows using Ansible, Cutover, and TrueSight Orchestrator

Platform Engineering & Integration:

  • Architect and maintain automation frameworks including shutdown/startup orchestration and dashboard integrations
  • Enhance system security posture through automation and proactive engineering improvements
  • Integrate automation with enterprise tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Provide leadership and guidance for teams implementing automation of key infrastructure management processes such as automated patching and configuration

Team Leadership & Strategic Direction:

  • Lead and mentor a global team of automation engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Provide input on staffing, budgeting, and strategic direction of automation programs
  • Serve as a senior technical architect and thought leader in automation engineering
  • Influence and guide activities of cross-functional teams involved in automation initiatives

Responsibilities:

  • Builds and manages teams by performing financial activities to inform workforce strategy and hiring practices, setting and tracking maturity and quality objectives, and training employees/teams to address feedback and achieve quality and performance objectives
  • Facilitates performance and career development of employees/teams through performance reviews, coaching, and creating development plans that are needed to build competencies and skills
  • Manages solution delivery and application performance in production (app health, resiliency, performance, security, enterprise data management standards, audit exams and reviews), ensuring all relevant risk, financial, and compliance policies are met
  • Manages relationships with business and technology partners and leads and creates followership in Communities of Practice in the organization
  • Contributes to the technology strategy for their technical domain
  • Creates an inclusive and healthy working environment and helps to resolve organizational impediments/blockers
  • Ensures that execution is aligned with product strategy by working with product management and other stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing global technical teams and driving enterprise-wide initiatives
  • 10+ years of Unix/Linux systems administration and scripting (Shell, Python, YAML, XML, Perl)
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Ansible Automation Platform in enterprise environments (experience with other platforms such as Cutover, TrueSight Orchestrator, and Bladelogic is desirable)
  • Strong understanding of databases and PL/SQL programming
  • Proven experience in automation content lifecycle management and federated development models
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including ability to engage senior leadership
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Experience in license compliance modeling and infrastructure asset analysis

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with BMC TSSA/BladeLogic, SQL, and other infrastructure automation tools
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, Remedy, Terraform and Windows scripting
  • Prior experience in financial services or regulated industries
  • Experience developing user-facing dashboards and automation analytics
