About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Data Engineer as part of the Auto Lending Data & Insights team within Consumer Technology. The Consumer Auto Lending organization is in the midst of a multi-year technology modernization across the Originations, Servicing, and Data delivery platforms. This role is a key enabler in the development of robust and scalable solutions to implement the Data Strategy in support of key business deliverables.
In this role, you will:
  • Lead complex initiatives with broad impact and act as key participant in large scale software planning for the Technology area
  • Design, develop, and run tooling to discover problems in data and applications and report the issues to engineering and product leadership
  • Review and analyze complex software enhancement initiatives for business, operational or technical improvements that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors
  • Make decisions in complex and multi-faceted data engineering situations requiring understanding of software package options and programming language and compliance requirements that influence and lead Technology to meet deliverables and drive organizational change
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with internal partners to resolve highly risky data engineering challenges
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead pilots, proof of concept technical evaluations, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
  • Consult with engineering team on change design requiring solid understanding of technical process controls or standards that influence and drive new initiatives
  • Remediate security vulnerabilities and implement technology mandates in a timely matter to remain system compliant.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Data Engineering or Software Engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • 4+ years of experience in Database technologies such as Oracle, Mongo DB, ETL: using tools and frameworks for data integration and pipeline development
  • 3+ years of experience of Application Development in Java or .NET frameworks
  • 2+ years of experience with Agile tools - methodology and JIRA
  • 1+ year of Cloud native application development experience (OpenShift, Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes)
  • 1+ year of CI/CD (Continuous Integration Continuous Development), DevOps, and SRE principles

  • Project Leadership
  • Experience with application and service design and architecture (microservices), including testing/launching software products
  • Led end-to-end implementation of large-scale data platforms or pipelines
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration ( product, analytics, DevOps)
  • Delivery focus and willingness to work in a fast-paced, enterprise environment
  • Architecture & Design
  • Designed/participated in scalable data architectures (batch, real-time, streaming)
  • Thorough understanding of cloud computing concepts like landing zone, Storage and Database.
  • Thorough understanding of Cloud service offerings on Data, Analytics, AI/ML.
  • Exposure to Cloud governance and logging/monitoring tools.
