Product Manager, Data Management in Separately Managed Team Overview

BlackRock SMA Solutions helps clients customize portfolios for unique tax, values-alignment, or investment exposures across direct indexing, fixed income, active equity, and multi-asset. We deliver world-class service to our clients, from wealth advisors to family offices to endowments and foundations.

With over $335B in client assets across direct index and active strategies, SMA Solutions is a rapidly growing business within BlackRock's US Wealth Advisory (USWA). Our personalized portfolios utilize individual securities, BlackRock Mutual Funds, and iShares ETFs to customize, diversify, and tailor investment solutions to high net worth/ultra-high net worth and institutional clients.


This role sits within our Product team and focuses on enabling scalable and efficient data delivery and data management for portfolio management, investment operations, and client service teams.


About Opportunity

We are seeking a Product Manager to own data domains and delivery processes that power investment operations, billing, client servicing and reporting workflows for the SMA Solutions business. This role will partner closely with engineering, operations, and client service teams to build and improve data pipelines, reporting, and tooling.

Responsibilities

•        Develop understanding of current end-to-end data delivery processes and technical architecture

•        Partner with other Product Managers, Engineers, Operations, and Client Service to deliver data and reporting solutions that enable key product and scalability initiatives

•        Act as product owner for data products spanning reporting, billing, and investment operations data flows

•        Define requirements and acceptance criteria for engineers

•        Drive automation and process improvement to reduce manual data handling and increase straight-through processing

•        Participate in defining that “data as a product” means for BlackRock’s SMA organization

Skills

•        Ability to elicit requirements, negotiate priorities, and communicate clearly with stakeholders across technology and business teams

•        Experience building product roadmaps and managing delivery against them

•        Hands-on proficiency designing and building data management processes using ETL tools, SQL, Python, PowerBI or similar tools

•        Familiarity with fixed income and equity asset classes in wealth management

•        Understanding of post-trade processing through reconciliation and client servicing workflows for retail SMA portfolios

•        Highly analytical and detail oriented with exceptional problem-solving skills

•        Committed to collaborating with Agentic AI to enhance productivity and evolve development processes

•        Creative thinker who challenges status quo and pursues excellence

Qualifications

•        5 years experience in product management, product ownership, or software engineering in agile teams, preferably in financial services or wealthtech

•        Able to scope and deliver features, epics, releases, collaborating with engineers and QA

•        Comfortable building working prototypes and navigating complex data models

•        Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree or certification in product management is a plus

•        Familiarity with Aladdin, order management, portfolio accounting, or performance measurement is a plus


For San Francisco, CA and Sausalito, CA Only the salary range for this position is USD$132,500.00 - USD$162,500.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance. For Princeton, NJ and Atlanta, GA Only the salary range for this position is USD$112,000.00 - USD$140,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
